Cake or cupcakes?

Hubby and I are having a debate...I suggested a small cake for us to cut and cupcakes for guests. It's more cost effective, a cake would cost close to $700. The small cake with cupcakes could save us $300. He thinks everyone should get cake. Have any of you been to a wedding where they served...

Thanks for your help.

So what I’ve seen people do is have a small cake for you and your hubby to cut, and then get a large sheet cake in white from like Publix or Walmart begins the scenes for the caterer to cut and pass out depending on how you want to go. I’m personally going with cupcakes, with that said we have about 45 guests attending so we have the means to buy individual cupcakes. We’re supporting a local place in our town that makes them from scratch and they’re absolutely amazing

We are actually doing this a small cake and cupcakes for the guests. People usually just throw the cake away and we don’t want to have a waste of a cake. We have different flavors. Also have other choices of desserts they can choose from.

Hi guys, We ordered 6" cake and 8" cake and the rest cupcakes. I bought a 7 tier cupcake holder. We chose 2 different flavors for each. I think this is awesome and it definitely is much cheaper than big wedding cake. I live in Florida so my price was $540 for everything. We chose the flavor the color the design just like we wouldve if we had big wedding cake! Good Luck and Congrats!!!

I’ve been to a wedding where they had cake and cupcakes. Everyone got a piece of cake and the cupcakes were different flavors. I personally enjoyed the cupcakes more because of the varieties that were offered.

We are doing the same thing. I was just at a wedding recently that did the same. My friends parents as well as my parents were disappointed there was no cake but I loved it lol. I'd say as long as it's good it doesn't matter if it's big cake or little cake. Side note sams has AMAZING cupcakes and you can get them undecorated and have someone else do them up all fancy to match your decor.

I've had both cake and cupcakes at weddings! I kind of love cupcakes because everyone can grab the same size serving and not get a lame slice! Going with cupcakes is just fineSmiley smile

There are very few things my fiancé has an opinion on. For whatever reason, he wants a full on 3 tier cake. He says cupcakes are for little kids birthday parties. I think cupcakes are easier, cheaper, and you can get more flavors. But, he has only had a few requests, so we are doing a 3 tier cake with sheet cake for the rest. Sheet cake is much cheaper... but I think cupcakes are fine

Our venue offers a pastry table, so my thought was to add the cupcakes to that. A win, win to me. Thanks Irma!
