Cake or cupcakes?

Hubby and I are having a debate...I suggested a small cake for us to cut and cupcakes for guests. It's more cost effective, a cake would cost close to $700. The small cake with cupcakes could save us $300. He thinks everyone should get cake. Have any of you been to a wedding where they served...

Thanks for your help.

The only issue I have had in the past with weddings that do cupcakes is I wanted to try all of the flavors offered as opposed to just taking one 😂 but that’s a me problem. There’s nothing wrong with cupcakes! They arrange them to make them look nice too, most are in a cake format so it’s not like there will be muffin tins sitting there or something.

Well that is because you said the word wedding lol. Also, check home bakers as often they may have experience with wedding cakes but may charge much less.

We are doing mini bundt cakes. Essentially it’s like a cupcake! It’s cheaper, no one has to stand there and cut the cake. Plus you get to pick different flavors for everyone to enjoy. We are also doing a small bundt cake to cut, but that’s just personal preference

I am dong this for my wedding. Cupcakes are the same thing as cake and much less messy to serve.

We are having Nothing Bundt Cakes as our wedding cake! We are having a tired cake which serves about 50-60 people, and a few dozen bundtinis that are individual!

I've never personally been to weddings where they had cupcakes instead of cakes, but I have seen pictures of cupcakes at weddings. Honestly I don't see anything wrong with cupcakes. You can do so much with cupcakes, different flavors and decorations. And you don't need pay someone to cut them. It's easy for guests to grab it and go. Cake or cupcakes? 1
You can do something like this.

We were going to go the cupcake route from the start. We have a tier for us to cut and keep. Then assorted cupcakes for the guests. Just thought it was easier.

True...lol. I could make our cake and order cupcakes. I have dabbled in cake making and am pretty creative.

We’re doing a small cake for us to cut and it will be shared with the wedding party. All the guests will get cupcakes. We’re doing three flavors - lemon, white almond (traditional wedding cake flavor), and pink champagne. They’ll be on three tiers under our cake, I believe.

I'm definitely considering doing this as well, but I was thinking a more general dessert buffet and not just cupcakes. My fiance has absolutely no sweet tooth and doesn't care either way.

I've attended multiple weddings that served cupcakes instead of having a giant wedding cake - it was nice! Personally, my favorite wedding had a whole table of desserts, including cup cakes, cookies, brownies, etc. I'd like this b/c it offered a larger variety of choices. They even had boxes on the side for anyone to take treats home. I intend on doing this for my wedding.

Hi, FH and I decided to do this too. We are having a small 2 tier cake ( we want to keep the top layer and freeze it for our 1 year anniversary) and we are doing cupcakes for our guests. It was so much cheaper and we get to have different flavors!
