Cake Eating or Cake Smashing?

Erin, on July 2, 2019 at 12:18 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 48

What's your plan for the cake cutting? Are you going to feed each other a slice of cake or smash it into each other's faces?

We don't really have a plan but I feel like its going to be a little bit of both. We will start out being nice but then the end will turn into a little bit of a smash. This way pictures are nice but we still get the laugh as well!

Definitely just eating it. No way was I letting my makeup get messed up lol, and my skin is so sensitive I would've broken out right on the spot if I got cake on my face. I told my husband that I'd file for annulment if he smashed the cake on my face (then told him I was kidding about the annulment, but seriously, don't smash the cake on my face, hahaha)

Eating. Makeup, hair, and my dress are costing a lot of money so I’d be pretty upset if any of those things got messed up during the cake cutting.

Eating only - I paid good money for that hair and makeup, the last thing I want is to be picking cake bits out of it and having splotchy makeup! Thankfully he was on the same page when it was wedding time lol

I want us to have fun so we will probably do a little smashing, but I don't want it to turn into a big mess either.

Other than messing up hair, makeup, and dress, I think it's disrespectful and inappropriate. I have strong feelings about this and I've already warned FH that if he smashes the cake in my face our marriage license will not be filed.

    Eating!
I personally just don't like the idea at all.
My family believes that if you smash you end up divorced, I'd call it superstitious but so far all people who have done a smash in our lives did end up with a divorce so I'll honor their superstition this time

Eating! It might end up a little messy but definitely not a full smash. I’m paying to get my hair and makeup done, I’m not going out of my way to mess it up for the rest of the night when it can easily be avoided.

No cake smashing for me. I do not want my makeup being a mess after that.

I would love for us to both smash the cake in each other's face, but I also don't want my makeup to get ruined. Haha.

I'm cool with either. Probably just eating and maybe a small smudge of icing on the nose!

    Eating!

I had a talk with FH about the money I'm spending on pro hair and makeup, and he promised not to smash cake in my face.

I did tell him he can smash cake on any part of me later on, when we're alone. I think the thought of that will keep him in line at the wedding! lol

No cake smashing here. I would be furious. I don't like that at all. Things cost too much and I want my hair, makeup, and dress to look good as long as possible. They cost too much.

We're not doing a traditional cake. We're doing a gelato cart and desert bar instead. We'll probably cut a brownie or cupcake from the desert bar. My fiance has already said that he doesn't care what we cut, but it's going to be smashed in my face. I told him fine, just don't get it in my hair!

We did a little of both! The photographer got a perfect shot of me booping my husbands nose at just the right moment. We didnt go crazy and get it everywhere just a small bit and i found it hilarious

Haha... exactly this! And I will add, besides messing up hair/makeup/dress & being inappropriate, I also feel it’s childish, pointless & just plain dumb 🤷🏻‍♀️ I couldn’t even imagine my FH doing this.

Eating only. I never understood why couples who are beginning their lives together start it off with smacking each other in the face with cake... I would stick to eating it. That seems like the more surprising action now.

I read an article one time and the divorce rate actually IS higher amongst couples who smashed vs those who didn't!
