This isn't visual, but what if they rang bells after your vows? I've seen (heard) that done before in a wedding and it's really cute. The ushers handed every guest a bell and when the minister said you may kiss your bride, the whole church rang the bells and they walked out to the bells after the minister presented them. Maybe your little ones could be in charge of handing out bells or ringing bells?

I haven't ordered them for the reason that it is not okay. I didn't think about that until a previous thread and the order would be late anyway so it isn't worth the tiny lives or the time for those who don't care about the fact that they are live animals.

Bubbles sounds like a great idea!

Whatever you do, don't do balloons or lanterns either. Also both very bad for the environment.

Also, if you *do* decide to release doves (and then change your name and hide in fear from this crowd forever...) keep in mind what else lives in the area. My DJ told me a story of a wedding he was doing-- lovely, on a boat, floating under the Golden Gate Bridge. They release the doves-- how lovely! How symbolic! Then one of the hawks that lives under the bridge swoops down and catches one of the doves-- oops!

This infuriates me. Like the 50 people who have commented before me have already said-- this is a cruel, disgusting, and selfish idea. However, You posted about a butterfly release before and hundreds of people told you why that wouldn't work out and why it is cruel, yet you ordered them anyways.

Idk how many times i have said it. I DID NOT ORDER THEM!! I am just trying to figure out what else i can do i don't have the time or money to redo my programs so i need the girls to "Release" something NON LIVING. I cant do bubbles because i am using those instead of rice or flower pedels being thrown at the recessional. I posted about them before and didn't know how cruel it was and now i am trying to fix my HONEST MISTAKE. So instead of insulting me how about giving me some help?! im trying to do the right thing here and all i'm getting is how horrible of a human being i am.........that is so helpful....

No what i ment was for those who don't care about the tiny lifes.......i have a few people suggest that i could order different companies and different animals so i was trying to relate to everyone so i coud get better feedback but now all i get it hurt feelings and more stress

First of all, calm down. Your original post made it sound like you had already placed the order for the butterflies. You didn't make it clear so don't be upset with PPs for assuming you had ordered them.

I'd do bubbles again, if you do a recessional at all...I think they're awkward. If you gave the girls bubble guns, like others have suggested, it would be slightly different than when the guests blow bubbles while you're exiting.

Or something totally ridiculous and I don't even know how you'd pull this off, but at one of the churches we'd originally looked at, there was a little trap door in the ceiling above the altar. Upon announcing the married couple, the door would open and rose petals would come tumbling down on the couple. This isn't a helpful story, and as ridiculous and cheesy as it sounds, I'm a little sad we won't have that.

Its the internet, someone pointing out how cruel that is to the butterflies shouldn't make you upset. We are upset that people wouldn't consider that on their own.

People have been trying to help. Unfortunately its a mistake, people probably wont even notice. NO one reads the programs anyway.

I am not even kidding but what about some kind of butterfly confetti or just regular confetti and they can throw that? or flowers?

The venue is worried about the mess. That's why i'm having such a difficult time finding something else
