Butterfly Alternative?

Sevanna, on May 27, 2016 at 3:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 139

So i have 3 weeks until my wedding and i just found out that i wont get my butterfly order in time as well as the fact that it isn't the best for the little creature so now i have programs that have 4 little girls labeled as "Releasers" and nothing to release. Any suggestions??

I DID NOT ORDER THEM!! I am just trying to figure out what else i can do i don't have the time or money to redo my programs so i need the girls to "Release" something NON LIVING. I cant do bubbles because i am using those instead of rice or flower pedels being thrown at the recessional. I posted about them before and didn't know how cruel it was and now i am trying to fix my HONEST MISTAKE.

Whatever it is, please don't make it a live creature, that's messed up. Not doves, not butterflies, not beta fish, not any other cruel idea.

Do confetti or rose petals or bubbles or something.

Don't do doves, it's terrible for them and they will die shortly after being released. Not the best representation of everlasting love!

    ETA: Bubbles would be cute!

    Dress them as butterflies.

Thank god the butterflies didn't arrive in time. What a cruel thing to do especially during a wedding.

PS the butterflies are usually dead by the time they get to be released....so your releasers could be just dumping dead butterflies on the ground. Uber romantic.

How about bubbles? My flower girls did that and LOVED it

ETA: it won't harm any animals, won't hurt the environment, and what kid doesn't love bubbles?!

Get wild flower packets and let little girls hand them out to people. Put little notes on them that say Let Love Grow Plant Wildflowers or something else. Yeah I am not a big fan of releasing anything. It is cruel and not good for whatever is being released.

Programs are a waste anyway. Throw them away. Problem solved.

Better than bubbles, bubble guns. could be really cute and a bigger impact than standard bubble wands. Rose petals or confetti would be pretty but won't have much of an impact since the releasers are children and I'm sure much shorter than you and FH. The petals or confetti might only reach your chests, whomp whomp.

The more I think about this, the more I want to do the bubble gun thing....hmmmm.....

Hi again, I remember this issue from before. I'm so glad the order didn't go through. Ugh.

Look at your old thread, some people had great alternative suggestions. We were trying to help you avoid using live creatures as props. Same goes with doves,, btw.

If it wasnt you that posted a thread on this before, my apologies. You could try searching but the thread was probably hidden.

Could they blow bubbles if you're insistent on the programs?

Junia- that's what my girls used- bubble guns. I told them to fill the garden with bubbles and they were so happy to do it

    I vote for bubbles.

Even setting aside animal cruelty, the idea that you can get a nearly brainless creature to do your bidding on your wedding day seems like a bad one. Fish die, butterflies die, and birds have no bowel control. Why throw another element of chaos into your big day?

Kind of a wacky idea, but you could try something that doesn't involve animal cruelty ?

Or you could go catch some mosquitos and release those?

Also, humor me, what are you going to do with all those butterflies that you now are getting after your wedding?
