Bustle or Not to Bustle: How did you decide?

Sylvia, on June 5, 2019 at 9:18 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
Hey Ladies,

I have a dress that doesn't "really" have a train - maybe a few inches that extends in the back but nothing more.

Should I get it bustled?

What would you suggest if I don't have a bustle?

I would say that depends on your personal preference also keep dancing in mind. Even a little extension has enough room for people to step on it. My dress with the slip in the front is slightly above floor length but the back has a short train. My seamstress recommended a one button bustle due to a larger bustle making my butt look quite large. The one button will take the small train off the floor enough to be able to dance and have no risk of people stepping on the dress.

I would do a bustle because you don't want people stepping on your dress all night and possibly ripping it. You can gave a wrist strap for longer trains, but I don't think that works for a shorter one.

I'm going to have to. I have enough of a train that there will have to be one

My train is not very long either but I plan on being on the dance floor all night so I got a bustle so people don’t step all over me

I didn’t bustle my dress, I held the train up with a wrist strap! I actually got tons of compliments on how it looked!

I'm most likely going to do the strap option. We're doing an Argentine Tango for our first dance, and I'm going to need a LOT of foot and leg freedom, so I don't step on the dress when moving backward and doing all the dramatic stepping and cool, fancy moves. I'm also going to have the length shortened a bit. The ceremony is outdoors, I'm 5'2, and the dress is about a foot too long on me. While the fancy long-ish back looks super cool in pictures, I don't want to get a bunch of leaves and sticks caught in the tulle as I walk, and I can't be stepping on it and tripping or ripping during the Tango!

Thank you everyone. I'm going to look at the strap idea to see if that works.
