Budget wedding ideas in Greenville/Spartanburg SC

Casey, on May 31, 2013 at 11:09 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

Hey all,

I am needing help finding a reasonable venue for (at most) 80 people that will host both wedding and reception. I am on a tight budget ($3k for wedding, reception, and honeymoon) and I want to have a decent wedding. My dress is from David's Bridal (see photo) and my ring is reminiscent of the 1920's (see photo). My rose colors are light rose pink and light ivory. My dress is champagne and ivory. I would really like to do something either Victorian/Romance or 1920's themed. Please help me!

Check out some of the state parks in the area. Table Rock is really pretty, and so are a lot of the other parks. This is where we originally looked: http://southcarolinaparks.com/tablerock/tablerock-lodge.aspx Our photographer said that the lodge could hold up to 85 people ish comfortably.

That may be a little more than you want to spend for the venue itself given your budget but you could do both ceremony and reception there easily, and it gives you both indoor and outdoor options/ air conditioning if it's too hot outside. A lot of the parks in the area have pavilions you can rent for not very much which are in pretty locations too. check out southcarolinaparks.com. Those would be your best bet I think.

I had checked on Table Rock before, but the issue was transportation for out of state guests. Last night I looked at The River Lodge & Old Mill Gardens at Falls Park on Reedy River, The Westin-Poinsett Hotel, Tyger Pines Farms, and Cleveland Park (Spartanburg). There are several people that have pictures online from their weddings at the Parks and the Farms, but none really of the Hotel.

Cleveland Park has the two-story building overlooking the lake, a gazebo on a floating island, and an Amphitheater for rental. Ranging from $200/2-hr time block + $2/chair (I'm looking at $560 for 80 people 4 hrs- gazebo/amphitheater) to $800 (4 hr time block plus $200 refundable deposit- building upper level).

Falls Park would be $500 for an 8hr time block. Plus they offer professional photos at $50 extra for 2 hours. No mention of a deposit.

I don't have rental info on the Westin-Poinsett or Tyger Pines.

Those all sound like nice places. I can't tell you anything about rental rates for the Westin-Poinset but pictures I can help you out with a little bit. I know our photographer has done a few weddings there...

Okay, the first link is probably your best bet. That couple did both ceremony and reception there, the second isn't terrible helpful but there is one nice photo of the entire room.

There is also another state park, Paris Mountain, that's only around six miles from downtown Greenville that you may want to check out if you looked at table rock. It's similar but a lot more open space and not a two-level building. This is where we're planning to have our ceremony and reception, just waiting until august when we can book it: http://www.southcarolinaparks.com/parismountain/buckhorn.aspx
