Bring your photographer to destination wedding?

The photographer we used for our wedding also does destination weddings. I found that it was not all that uncommon with MOST of the photographers in our area.

Also, there are photographers who specialize in destination weddings. (I assume they must live in really boring places where nobody gets married so they have to travel. )

My photog shot THREE weddings in New Zealand this year-- he lives in Long Island. A guy I went to elementary school with is also a pro photographer, and goes to Jamaica/the Carribean probably once a month to shoot destination weddings.

I would probably bring someone with me-- that way you can meet them beforehand, have a bit more security if you don't get edited photos back, etc.

My photographer does this. She loves it. She took proposal pictures of a couple last year and this year they're flying her to their destination wedding.

And I work 40 hours in a cube,. . . wth

We're flying our photographer out for our wedding in Mexico. If I can't control other aspects of the wedding, I have to have the photographer I want, even if the ones at the resort are just as good.

It's expensive, but she's worth it.

I was lucky and used a photographer in Italy who did work for my MOH's now sister-in-law. I believe you can find quality photographers anywhere. Where is the DW, maybe some of us can give you suggestions, unless she has her mind made up.

I have a friend whose husband is a photographer, and for destination weddings he normally gets the B&G to pay for him and his wife to travel. I think he charges about $5000 to shoot a wedding, so I'm not sure if paying for him and his wife's trip is any cheaper.

My photographer is charging us a $300 flat rate for travel (4.5 hours away, 2 nights, 3 days). This works out to be much cheaper than paying for her accommodations/gas money. We're friends though.
