Bridesmaids with hats?

My mother and MOH are really stuck on this idea of the bridesmaids wearing pillbox hats.

I'm having the bridesmaids choose their own dresses and the wedding (ceremony) will be outside barring bad weather.

I'm open to their ideas, after all I'm not wearing it, but I feel like this is a tough look to pull off. It'll make it harder for them to find dresses and do their hair.

Has anyone ever seen this done well?

ETA: my MOH wants to buy everyone's hats so it wouldn't be an extra expense for others. And from what they described they mean like...little hats?

    Yeah....no. I wouldn't. Very dated.

What's the reasoning for wanting hats???

My SIL wore one for her wedding. Looked kind of silly to me. I think she fancied herself as a young Jackie-O. Which she was not and is not to this day. I'm on Team Nope!

If you were going for some kind of themed wedding, then yeah that might be cute, but if you're just having a regular 'ol wedding with regular 'ol BM dresses then they're really not going to fit in. I also look terrible in hats, so if I was forced to wear one as your BM I would do it (as long as you paid for it), but I would feel really silly and uncomfortable, and I would rip it out as soon as formal photos are done.

Omg no. I wouldn't make someone wear any kind of hat to my wedding ever. It sounds terrible.

I'm generally #TeamNoHat but if all of your BP likes it I guess why does it matter?

I say no. I do t even know what a pill box bat is but if they pay for hair to be done. I would be mad if I had to it a hat on for pics

Do what you like, but remember this: if your BM all hate it, you're going to see that reflected in ALL of your wedding photos. And they WILL hate it. Some women just don't look good in hats, some hate wearing them.

The ONLY hat I can rock is a ball cap, and I rarely wear those. I feel like a complete dork in any other hat, and look equally terrible. I would probably be scowling in every picture if I were your BM and made to wear one.
