Bridesmaid Parasols! Yay or Nay?

Jen P., on June 21, 2011 at 1:30 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 25

I am startling to love the idea of using parasols instead of bouquets, especially since we'll be getting married in July when it's likely to get hot! I have an inspiration photo where they held parasols and my cousin had us hold some as well, I just never thought about it in my own wedding until now! What do you think?

Hmm I like them a lot actually...they look lovely! Lots of options online for colours etc too so you can really customize them. Nice little keepsake for your BM's as well..great for pics obviously too!

I just noticed that site does it randomly though...hopefully just the pattern and not the colour!

I love the idea! I never thought about using them as a bouquet replacement! I want to have them for pictures for sure. I want to have a pink one and my girls will have white ones. Depending on the weather at the end of april I may do this as well!

You know you could even decorate them with flowers if you wanted too! Someone made a post about doing something similiar for a flower girl alternative if you couldn't drop petals at your venue.. I'll see if I can find the link to the post!

I have been in love with this idea for a while. You should definitely do it if you're thinking about it. Hobby Lobby has parasols in their stores right now (they're half off this week, too). Might be something to consider so you don't have to pay shipping.

YES, we did it and it was OOOHHH so beautiful in the pics and needed due to the sun outside. Of course we had one for the Groom to carry over the bride too.

BTW, they have them at Hobby Lobby for $5.99. We got ours at half price during early spring sale.

Practical question for those who have used them...do they actually provide noticeable shade and if the BM are holding them during the ceremony, does it obstruct the view for people sitting?

For our wedding, there were not used during ceremony. Only during time outside and while walking from spot to spot for photo shoot.
