Bridesmaid gifts

Shawna, on September 14, 2019 at 3:39 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8
What is the typical amount you have spent on the gifts you gave to your bridesmaids? I have 11 of them. 5 have caused me a lot of aggravation throughout my entire wedding planning while the other half have been wonderful, helped , etc. I was thinking of giving separate gifts privately. Has anyone done this?

I didn’t put a dollar amount on it.

I created a list of items that are useful to anyone and did my best to do some great bargain shopping.

The 💃are getting Tote bags full of stuff that they’ll be able to use for a while.

Slippers, Photo Album, Trinket Tray, Pomegranate 🛀💣, Blackberry 🛁 Wash and Lotion, Wind Chime, and Water Bottle.

I didnt put a dollar on it but I probably spent about $75ish per bridesmaid, but I only had 5, not 11!! I did do a little extra for my MOH (my sister) though. I got them each a clutch purse, an individualized necklace for the wedding and to wear after and a pashmina shawl in case its chilly for my Oct wedding, and then my MOH a compact mirror with her initial on it since I know shell use that often! I also contributed $25 towards their hamu service they wanted and covering the tip for everyone.

I wouldn't give less of a gift to the bridesmaids you feel may have been stressful during the process though, or at least not drastically different. If they do compare you dont want them feeling badly. They took the time to be part of your day and you should thank them for that.

As long as you're super discrete with gifting extra to some, I think it should be okay. With 11 BMs, I would try to spend about $25 - $30 per person Smiley smile

I think I spent about $40-50 per girl. However I did go small with their proposal gifts so I wanted to make up for that.

I had 9 bridesmaids. 4 were my husband's sisters, the other 5 were my best friends. They caused me virtually no stress throughout the 14 months of planning, and were a dream team. 7 of them went to my bachelorette party (they are scattered all over the country so it makes it harder), and 3 went to my bridal shower. I spent $140 on each bridesmaids hair and makeup (this was optional and they picked whatever style they wanted, two opted to do their own makeup so I only paid $75 for their hair), I spent $100 an hour for two chair masseuses for getting ready, bought breakfast & lunch the day of the wedding while getting ready, paid for transportation, and spent around $50 per gift for each bridesmaid with gifts on the day of. I spent around $20 per girl on proposal gifts, and $20 per girl at the bachelorette for favors. I spent $50 on my MOH after my shower for a thank you gift.

So I think it depends on what you're paying for. You can spend less if you're paying for hair and makeup. I think I spent about $70 - Tote bag filled with monogrammed silk pajamas, a pashmina shawl, earrings, and each of their favorite wine/champagne. I paid for hair and makeup. The shawl and earrings were for day of but I went with stuff that will definitely be re-worn.

We set a budget prior to having our venues and such, but now that we are under, we are putting forth more (I have 3 and all have been fantastic, even my sister who is states away). I dont think it would be wrong to do gifts separately, but I would have one thing that they all get together. Good luck.

I got my girls all the same things and in the end I spent about $40 - $50 on each girl.

I got them a cup with their name laser engraved, a make up bag with their name, hair ties that match my colors and on the card it says "To have and to hold, your hair back", a stress reliever face mask, and EOS lip balm
