Bridesmaid Appointment

Michelle, on November 5, 2019 at 9:49 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

I have my bridesmaid dress appointment coming up. Any suggestions on how to make the day go smoother?

Mine is on Thursday! I would just look at the dresses you're considering online before going and make sure you've talked with your girls about their budgets. Also think about if you plan on having them in the same dress or letting them choose their own styles.

I hated shopping with my bridesmaids and the groomswoman. I wanted to go to small shops rather than David's Bridal so my one bridesmaid helped me find a few. She called ahead of time to confirm they had long dresses under $200 that could be tried on in the store that day that could be ordered in fire engine red. All three stores confirmed they did, but none of them had fire engine red dresses so we ended up going to David's Bridal after all. The groomswoman did nothing, but complain the entire time and she was rude to my bridesmaids. I didn't want her to come with us, but my husband insisted since she would be wearing the same dress as my bridesmaids. Another problem we had was that a lot of the stores didn't have sizes for people larger than a 10 so my sister didn't really get to try anything one at the first three stores. I wanted all of my girls in the same dress which was honestly a mistake because I had girls that ranged from size 2-18 and finding something that faltered all of them was very difficult. My friend who was a size 2 was the hardest one to find a dress for because she is like an A cup and most of the dresses made her look like she had no boobs or the strapless ones she couldn't keep up. She also didn't tell me beforehand that she hates strapless dresses which is what I really wanted. Based on my experience, I would talk to your girls ahead of time. Confirm what their budget is, if they don't like a particular style and determine if you want them all in the same dress. I wish I had just told them the store, designer, color and length and let them choose the style rather than having them in the same dress.
