Bridal shower thank you’s

Courtney, on April 24, 2018 at 2:03 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3
So I’m a little stumped on how to write some of my thank you cards. We had a few girls that couldn’t make it but went in on a gift with girls that were there. So I’m just stumped on how to write a thank you to them because I do appreciate the gift, but the way I’m starting out the thank you’s is; “thank you so much for coming to my shower and celebrating the day with me” along the lines of that and goes on to personalize the thank you’s a bit from there. I just tend to second-guess myself a lot and overthink things so I really don’t know how to word it if like they didn’t make it or they just stopped in for a quick second and weren’t there the whole time. And another thing I’m unsure about is on Pinterest I’ve seen that for the end of the thank you’s from the bridal shower some people put “lots of love from the groom and bride to be” is it normal to say thank you from the groom as well because he’s getting the items too? Or since it was just a personal thing with the bride is it just a thank you from her? or is that all just up the preference? I’m so clueless with everything and can’t ask my mom for help, so any advice is much appreciated! Thank you!

I just wrote all my shower "thank yous" in the first person and signed both our names. Might not be the most grammatically correct way but it's how I did it. For those who couldn't attend, I thanked them for the gift by saying "Thank you so much for the gift of XYZ! It was so thoughtful for you to send something for FH and I. It will go to good use in our beautiful new home. We can't wait for the wedding! Love, X and Z"

This is a sample of what I did, but I'm not sure of standard etiquette or anything (assuming Jane went and Jack didn't, but they addressed the card together):

    "Dear Jane and Jack,

Thank you so much for the ice cream maker. FH and I eat ice cream almost every night and can't wait to use it! Jane, thank you so much for coming to my bridal shower. It meant a lot to me (and FH). We can't wait to see you at the wedding!

    Love, Bride"

Edit: I didn't include FH because when I was writing the notes he wasn't around to sign his name himself and we did a ladies-only shower.

I would say thank you for ____( or contribution towards) _______. It will be perfect for ________. we missed your presence on_____.
I would end with both your names. Since they are usually house gift and it for both of you.
