Brazilian Wax for wedding/honeymoon

If you haven't ever had one, get one now. I got one a while ago, first time, and I broke out horribly. You don't want that on your wedding day.

ETA: I get my brows done all the time, WAY different.

Seriously, get them. I love them; been getting them the last 6 years. My fair skin and dark hair make waxing so worth it!

Please try it out before your wedding though. It all depends on the person waxing, the wax being used, and your time of the month.

ETA: I recently found a lady who uses hard wax and it was much less pain than soft wax! Research it

Try it out now then if you like it do it like 2 or 3 days before your wedding.

I recommend them, I love not having to worry about it while on vacay. Also, try it before you get close to your wedding day.

I get waxed regularly. First thing you should know is that you do NOT want the same type of waxed used for your bikini/brazillian area that you use for your eyebrows. You want hard wax. This is a type of wax that they apply, let dry and then rip off. They don't use any linens with it. The wax gets pulled off by itself. It's more hygenic (make sure your salon has a one-dip policy or a no-redip policy. Basically you want them to use one stick for each application. You do not want them to use that stick more than once.

As for pain level - I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but I've heard from others that it really doesn't hurt them either. You don't want your hair down there to be fully grown, as that will make it hurt worse, actually. The only place that should/will hurt is the pubic bone. It's one tiny spot. Everything else will be like the eyebrows. OUCH! And then nothing.

I definitely agree with PPs on trying it out before.

Also, someone mentioned hard wax and I agree with that statement as well.

I get brazilians and I LOVE them. Also, side note: I can't get my eyebrows waxed because it hurts so so bad and I always get super red and inflamed. But, nothing like that happens with the Brazilian. It is SO different from eyebrows.

Just take some advil before and you should be set.

I don't wax, but I stopped shaving after I found Magic Cream. I highly recommend it. It's actually a delapitory like Nair, but was formulated for black men's faces so it's way more gentle.

I have extremely coarse, dark hair that regular Nair doesn't touch. I leave this stuff on for about 20 minutes, scrape it off with an old credit card, and usually don't have to worry about it for a couple of weeks. It grows back a little faster than waxing, but MUCH slower than shaving, and you don't get the ingrown hairs. I highly recommend it. The worst issue I've had is that it makes everything feel REALLY cold down there while I'm waiting. Lol.

I have never had a Brazilian or bikini but I have done legs, underarms and eyebrows. My eyebrows are the absolute worst. Its painful, my eyes water like crazy, I flinch get read and break out. I guess that spot is super sensitive for me. I have never done bikini because I am afraid it will be worse then eyebrows. If its like my legs or underarms its a piece of cake. It really just depends on where you are sensitive the most. If you do go for it don't do it the first time for your wedding.

I'm a regular waxer (I go to EWC) so I had mine done, the day before my wedding. We left a day after the wedding and our HM was 8 days long. Waxing usually lasts me about three weeks for a brazilian before I go again.

I would recommend trying it out well before your wedding and honeymoon.

I went for the first time last weekend. Agree with PPs, you should go now and go somewhere that uses hard wax. I went to European Wax Center, not sure if that's a local chain or if they have them everywhere? It hurt A LOT but I am a total baby when it comes to stuff like that.

ETA I bought this serum that they sell, which is supposed to prevent breaking out, ingrown hairs, bumps, etc. which I also recommend

I wasn't really wanting to have to pay before to do it but I'm thinking it may be worth it than doing it right before the wedding and having a bad experience. Sadly there isn't a EWC here, the nearest one is about 2.5 hours away.

That's another thing is trying to find a salon/someone who does it in my area that will do a good job and has plenty of experience. But didn't really wanna get on facebook and ask for opinions LOL

I get eyebrows, upper lip, underarms, full leg and full Brazilian all the time. If you never had one done before go now and try. Look up businesses with great reviews.

OP, look on yelp for reviews of businesses in your area. That's how i found mine

I think I've found one in my area. It's considered a Medical spa as well and they do the laser hair removal. Also, they're having a 15% off sale this month on waxing! Sounds like I need to go soon.

Yes, avoid the cheap places. Look for the hard wax for the brazilian (and w/ that you don't have to go completely bare of you don't want. It just means they do the underneath too if you know what I mean). NO DOUBLE DIPPING. Exfoliate before and after. Try to get a calming cream and if they have a ingrown hair serum too.

That's a shame you don't have a EWC close. I love their product line to death. And their wax is the bomb.

I've had a bikini wax before. it wasn't bad. the lady used a sugar wax which is way more gentle than the wax with strips. I thinking about getting one again before my wedding. I'm more concerned with my underarms because they are dark and I don't want them to look dark in pictures. I know the spa told me not to shave for 2 weeks when getting anything waxed so im still contemplating. Does waxing help your arms lighten up or atleast not have the dark discoloration?

I have been getting full brazillians for over 5 years now. I go to a place that uses sugar instead of wax. They pull with the growth instead of against it. I pop a couple of Advil 30 minutes and I'm good. The first few times I had a stress ball and would squeeze and curse which helped. I found my salon using Google.

I can go about 5-6weeks before needing to go back which is nice. If we do end up going to the beach or whatever I'll Nair the odd spot.

My hair grows insanely fast too and I got this done once and it was a waste of money - a week later I was shaving again.

I love getting Brazilians but you should try them way before the wedding. This way you can see if you like it and how your body will react to them.
