Boutonnieres and Corsages for Grandparents?

tiger411, on January 29, 2014 at 3:25 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 30

What do you guys think about boutonnieres and corsages for the grandparents? My mom said that it's optional for the grandparents to get them, but I think it's a nice gesture to do.

My mom is a florist and a lot of people order them. We will be doing them for our grandparents, I think it is sweet.

We had it for my grandmother (only grandparent at our wedding). I also think it's a nice gesture.

We did get them for our grandparents. I don't think they really cared whether or not they received anything, but more so appreciated that we considered them on our wedding day. Smiley smile

It's definitely a nice gesture if it's in the budget. i had originally ordered a quote including them, but we've decided to nix corsages and bouts for the grandparents and parents. only wedding party and my dad (he's walking me down the aisle) and our officiant will be getting them.

Thank you for all the responses. I think that I'm going to get boutonnieres and corsages for the grandparents. Is the officiant supposed to get a boutonniere? For some reason, that thought has never crossed my mind before now.

I'm planning on getting a corsage for my grandmother, the only grandparent still with us at 94 years old.

If your officiant is a close friend or family member, then maybe get them a boutionniere. But most I think would be wearing a robe and that it might get in the way. We didn't have one for our minister.

What about siblings? None of our siblings are actually involved in the wedding.

Ours will and our siblings (2 involved in wedding - FSIL as MOH and Bro is giving me away, and my other 'brother' isn't getting one) will also be getting ones.

I think it is a nice thing to do

We were planning to but FH may change his mind - out of all our grandparents, two of mine and one his will be there. But now his grandmother is very ill and she might not be able to make it. I don't want him to feel bad, but I do want to honor my grandparents in some way, because they are really like a second set of parents to me and helped raise me.

My grandpa is giving me away so he will be getting a boutonniere and his gf who treats me well will be getting a corsage. Our officiant is FH uncle, and he will be getting a boutonniere.

My grandma is getting one. There are other grandparents invited but they've never really been there for me but this one grandma has so I want her to feel special.

ETA: My brother will be getting one, but only because he's playing guitar while I walk down the aisle. I have five other brothers and two sisters who aren't in the wedding and won't get one.
