Bouquet vs Parasols

Rachel, on February 25, 2012 at 7:52 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

So Have been looking around at flower and moving the budget arround to ry and fit everything I want in and came a cross a site that has beautiful parasols for very reasonable prices and I'm starting to think why not just do parasols instead of bouquets for the bridal party? It's going to more than likely ve be hot outside and in a very open unshaded are so it practical? I'd still have a bouquet but my ladies would have parasols what do you guys think?

I actually got a white lace umbrella incase it rained and tried it on with my dress and loved it so much that even if it is the sunny-ist day ever I am taking pics with it. But that being said get yourself a parasol and a bouquet cause they are fun and you might want some pics with it too.

Parasols look great! but I personally prefer flowers... maybe parasols and a flower in their hair, or a wrist corsage?

I have a parasol for myself only.. penciled in "just married" and filled in the letters with a sharpie. It came out great. I don't have a pic, but here's one as an example:

good luck! I'm planning to add rhinestones to mine too.

I am doing parasols as well. My ladies are going to wear a wrist corsage too. Saves me some cash, plus it is a different look. Theknot.com had them on sale a few weeks back.

We used parasols for pictures...they really add so much to your overall look Smiley smile

I love the idea! I got mine at Hobby Lobby for 50% off their summer stuff...they were $4 a piece...I saw them back for this season! They came in many different colors...blue, green, pink, orange, yellow...

Love the parasol ideal....may use it. Along with Pearl G do they walk down the aisle with the parasol opened or closed? It's a church wedding would this be appropriate?

Great idea. I'm thinking of doing silk fans for my bridal party.

Patricia If it's a church wedding I'd say closed out of respect, and also if your superstitious(bad luck for open umbrellas/parasols inside) but I'm doing outdoor ceremony so I'm going to have them cary them open or cary them closed down and open them at the end not sure yet

I too am using parasols! When I came across them through a random search like you, I thought they would add a very beautiful touch to my outdoor wedding. My girls are wearing wisteria (a shade of purple) and I'm ordering the cornflower blue parasol (my colors are shades of purple and blue). I am thinking about personalizing them with the girls first initial if I can fit it in with all of my other DIY tasks. Either way, it will be one of the "during" gifts I'm providing to the girls (I have a before, during and after gift theme I'm doing for my girls).

    I say go for it!
