Borrowing Wedding Jewelry from a Jeweler or Online???

Yardiegirl, on May 2, 2012 at 9:34 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

I know that people borrow jewelry sometimes for big red carpet events. However, it never occurred to me that I might want to do that for my wedding.

I was on Pinterest and saw a great necklace, clicked on it and it took me to http://www.bagborroworsteal.com (A company mentioned in the Sex & The City Movie)

It's $14 to borrow the necklace for a week and $40 for a month. Very inexpensive for something I might not want to wear again being that it's my wedding jewelry. Also, I might get something more luxurious than what I might have bought.

The only thing is that there could be a waiting list. So I would have to see how long it would take for me to get it.

It also takes care of the "borrowed" in "...Something borrowed...something blue..."

If the celebrities do it...why can't I?? lol

Has anyone every done this successfully? Would you think of doing it now?? I'm seriously considering it once I see what I would need to do....hmmmmm

I have never done it or heard of the average person doing it, but it is a fabulous idea for the bride that wants over the top but knows she will never wear it again.

    Thanks for posting the link.

I've never actually done it before but I am registered to that web site bc I was interested in borrowing a bag. But that's a really good idea for jewelry!!!

I have done it for bigger events. I am a fan of bagborroworsteal, but their customer service has gone downhill. The real problem with the jewelry is exactly what you said- there are no guarantees of availability. You get to borrow what you want, but it's sent to you when they want, and there may be a list ahead of you.

    I wouldn't risk it- but that's me.

I rented diamond earrings from Adorn.com and had a positive experience. They also have diamond necklaces, etc.

Click on an item and enter your wedding date. It'll tell you if its available.

They ship via UPS and you return the item in a prepaid envelope.. super easy!!

The only place I've heard of this is from adorn.com. Which is much more expensive than $14. I have heard only positive things about this!! In the end, while I know the jewelry is worth much more than what you rent it for, I can't see spending $200+ to rent jewelry--wedding day or not, but I'm much too frugal about things for myself than that...
