Booked our venue! But thoughts

Caitlin, on January 24, 2023 at 11:25 PM Posted in Planning 1 4
We picked a venue and it’s a huge relief. Nowhere we visited had excellent food, and all were country club kind of uninspired vibes so we ended up choosing one that’s very close to home (right up the street in our hometown) and had very good views for the fall. I’m now minorly regretting it because the other ones have a lot of reviews and our venue doesn’t have many, and they’re slightly fancier. It’s so like me to double guess myself. I also just found out that a friend is getting married next year at a venue that was unavailable for us on our date and it’s so nice so I’m worried our wedding will seem dated and less special.

It's a wedding ceremony not a competition. Anyhow, you get the grand prize. Just enjoy it.

Don't compare your wedding plans to anyone else's. Everyone's budgets and visions are so wildly varied, even two separate weddings at the same venue could turn out drastically different. And just because a venue appears nicer, doesn't make it better than someone else's wedding at a different venue. The people you're around on your wedding day are what matter, along with marrying your partner. For what it's worth, when I attend a wedding as a guest, I do not find myself comparing it to other weddings that I've been to. Focus on making your wedding day vision come to life in the venue you booked, and enjoy the positives that your venue has to offer! With good fall views, I'm sure you'll get some stunning wedding photos at your venue!

Comparison is the theft of joy.

Your wedding has nothing to do with your friends and vice versa. Stop looking at venues or listening to what you could have had and focus on the venu. Especially if they are a new venue, they may be more willing to bend rules a little so that you give them a good review and others want to use it.
Also down the street from your house. You get to back and enjoy your own bed after the wedding?! That sounds so nice.

Sounds like you were happy with your choice until you heard about someone else's plans. Don't do that to yourself. Your wedding with be unique and wonderful and what you two want.
