Bold lip for wedding day makeup?

bea22, on January 5, 2016 at 11:25 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

I love the vintage look of a dark red/wine lip color, and our "theme" is vintage/rustic so I think it would go well. I have pale skin and blue eyes and already wear red/wine lipstick regularly for special occasions so I know it would look fine on me.

But, our color is mint green and it's in the spring, so I'm not sure if a darker lip would mesh well with that. Thoughts?

EDIT: How to makeup trials usually go? Do I try out one look or multiple? For example, the same look but once with a nude lip and then with a bolder lip?

I don't see a problem with it. If that's what you want and it looks good on you, go for it!

I did a bold red lip for our wedding. I wear bold lipstick every day and couldn't imagine toning it down. It just wouldn't be me.

Do it! I'll probably do a bold lip for mine because I LOVE darker lip colours.

Go for it! I promise you not one of your guests will think or say "I'm not sure if her dark lip goes with her wedding colors" Smiley smile

I love the look! Since you are having a spring wedding with pastels, I would lean toward deep pink or a true red--bold color but not super dark.

I did a bold red and loved it. Do what you want for your look!

As for the trial I went in and talked to the MUA. I really wasn't sure what I wanted. I told her as best I could and then from there I was able to decide what I wanted more or less of. If I had been really unsure or unhappy I would have gone for a second trial, but it wasn't necessary.

I LOVE a bold lip, I am all about a bold lip myself. I will say I associate a bold lip bride with bold wedding colors as well. I think with mint green you might want to consider a bold pink vs. a bold wine red.

I have a whole pinterest board full of dark lipped wedding makeup.

I would tell your makeup artist that you are unsure of what lip color and if you could start off with a lighter color and then the darker. I did that with my engagement photos, I ended up with a deep burgundy.

I think it's fine. I did a dark cranberry lip. DH ended up getting it on his nose somehow when we did our first kiss lol Smiley smile

Hey date twin!! We are doing like the same colors and flowers, assuming you are doing similar to the ones in the picture above. That being said I think you should go for the dark lips. I'm not much for lipstick but I'll probably do a softer shade as I'm getting married on the beach and I don't normally wear lipstick.

Trials I think you can ask your MUA to do a light shade first and then do one with your darker shade that you prefer. Just have your favorite lipstick with you all day/night so you can do retouches
