Bridal shower is a surprise and I need to find a dress to give to my MOH so I can change into it when I am surprised! Where should I shop?

Thank you mrs fall bride! And @flyingsoon, I know my mom and bridal party are throwing one. I said that. Maybe you were laughing too hard to read it. I'm sorry for not googling and wanted real people to give advice on where they bought some pretty classy dresses.

Amanda- I was just asking. I said Google because you seem overwhelmed by people asking questions and that will eliminate some of that. A surprise is not normally known about because that ruins the surprise of it. If they tell you about it and give you the date then you can use RTR. If it's a surprise it might look weird if you show up and then randomly go change. Also, what if you don't have your hair and makeup done when they "surprise "you

My sister in law showed up for her baby shower in her waiter outfit. fast forward 10 years: She still talks about how mad she was that everyone was clean and dressed up and she was on those clothes the whole time. I think it is nice that you/your MOH thought about the detail of what you would wear.

Lulus has great and cute white dresses. BEBE is always one of my pics, Macys has a nice selection but is never my first choice. Free People has boho style if you're into it. Antropologie and sometimes urban outfits can be impressively cute.

    Good luck!

@flyingsoon I honestly just am trying to not be ugly from now till the wedding since I don't know lol if I don't have hair and make up done, that would suck but I could deal with it. I'd rather have a dress. I only really wear mascara to begin with, which I never leave the house without, and if my hair is gross I'll have someone braid it or something lol thank you so much@pb

Find a dress on rent the runway.... have her reserve it and have it shipped to her.

White House Black Market. Plus if the salesclerks are doing their job, they'll help you accessorize it so you can wear it for other occasions and have a slightly different look.

I have heard about these surprise showers before but am so confused. What region does this and why?

Of course the bride doesn't plan it, but it should be a time and place that works with her schedule and has the people she wants there so this sounds like a logistical nightmare to me.

My mom asked me for my list of who I want to invite to the wedding. As far as fitting my schedule, between my closest friends and my mom, I trust them knowing my schedule. I live like a half hour out of Philadelphia, in bucks county.

Only read the first few comments. This may have already been addressed.

    Adding my 2 cents.

I just bought a white dress at Francesca's and gave it to my mom to hold so she can bring it to my "surprise shower" so I can change when I get there too.

My cousin had the same thing too for hers.

It's a surprise as in, I don't know when/where it'll be located. But I know I'm getting one after chats with my mom and bridal party.

To me, this isnt weird at all.

    ETA: after reading comments.

My parents have the guest list.

Every shower I've been to in my family, every female invited to the wedding gets a shower invite. And I sent my matron of honor my weekends I'm off from January until the wedding so they know when I'm off work.

Again, none of this is weird to me

Another note... i would give your MOH your dress in the avitar... and shop new accessories for it just in case as back up.

That way you have made something old into something a little new.

I threw a surprise shower for my sister, so I hear where you are coming from.

They told you there was going to be a party, but the date is a surprise? Yeah, they need to tell you the date. What if you have to make plans for something, but you can't because you're holding out for the party? Usually, the bride knows about the basic details of the shower like when and where, but just doesn't know about the fine details. The date and time is always the most important detail, especially for the guest of honor.

Now with all that said, Kohl's has a great selection of dresses right now, and there's a really cute white dress that I'm eyeing for my bridal shower. It's Beauty and the Beast brand. ETA: I most likely won't wear white, though.

I was wondering why a bridal shower dress thread had so many comments...

I guess it's pretty difficult to find a white dress nowadays @BeachDreams...
