BEST FOUNDATION to wear for engagement pictures and for your wedding day?

Laura, on October 11, 2012 at 5:09 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

I'm getting engagement pictures done in a couple of weeks and I need to know what foundation to wear for pictures..I normally wear a lot of makeup and I need lots of coverage. I currently wear Bare Minerals, but I refuse to wear it for pictures because I know from experience it looks awful, so I need a go-to foundation. HELP PLEASE! Experienced brides!

From my professional point of view, I would recommend this cream foundation with SPF 18:http://forprincessbride.com/store/product269.html. Great coverage, sun protection, easy to apply. Apply with a sponge (enclosed) and don't forget to set it with Translucent Powder. For outdoor photos, I would also recommend Model in a Bottle finishing spray (after your makeup is completely done). That will hold it fresh for the entire day: http://forprincessbride.com/store/product2.html. Good luck with your photos!

I used Revlon colorstay for both my engagement photos and my wedding and it worked really well.

Try MAC. Go to Macys and have one of the make-up artists select the best shade for you. Just let them know what you need the make-up for.

I don't know your skin tone, but I know that Make Up For Ever HD and Face and Body foundations as well as Guerlain and MAC photograph well. MAKE SURE you are matched to the correct shade. The people at MAC in particular are terrible at matching shades, so bring someone with you. Then take pictures (not with a crappy smartphone camera) in bright daylight, as well as some with flash in dim lighting. You'll be able to see if it photographs well on you. In my experience, foundations with sunscreen (especially Titanium dioxide and Zinc oxide) give a white cast in photos. It's all about trial and error, but I'm sure you'll find something that works for you!

For photography, it's best to avoid makeup containing SPF. It does not work well with flash.

SPF is designed to reflect the sun from your skin to keep it from burning. In turn, these SPF ingredients will of course reflect any light source and your face may appear whiter or ashy on film.

Yaby is a fantastic brand. It was created by a makeup artist (Liz Yu) for makeup artists. http://www.yabycosmetics.com/ It is excellent for photography.

I also like Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics http://occmakeup.com which has water-based foundations. Although they were designed for airbrush, you can apply them just as flawlessly with a brush.
