Best Casual Dining Sets for Registry

Monica, on October 10, 2017 at 11:34 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 24

I'm not one to register for fancy china because I know I will only use it twice, but I do love quality and stack ability. Any suggestions on brands for casual dining sets and also silverware that are quality, easily stacked, and available at a store like bed bath and beyond? Also, any other dining registry suggestions are welcome Smiley smile

I love Corelle. I am a klutz so it helps that it doesn't break as easily. Also it doesn't weigh as much as regular dishes.

We have about three sets, maybe more Smiley smile

I registered for a nice set of Mikasa everyday tableware. It remained on the registry, so we're back on the hunt for dishes. I agree that Corelle is awesome! and it's definitely lighter and easier to stack than the MIkasa stoneware would have been. They also have a ton of patterns and styles to choose from.

Aside from that, I got a Le Cruset butter crock, since I love spreadable butter at all times. I know not everyone agrees with room temperature butter, but it's become a mainstay on my kitchen table.

I registered for crate and barrels essentials dishes. They have some good weight to them, aren't badly priced, and can be purchased individually if something is broken, or if I ever want to expand. I have friends that have registered for fiestaware for the same reasoning. Utensil wise I did crate and barrel as well, but I went into the store and felt the weight.

We have Fiestaware! I love all things brightly-colored, and I like how heavy the plates are.

Crate and Barrel has the best silverware and dinnerware for the money. We love our's.

I used to design dinnerware for Target and we compared every single brand and style we could find in order to determine quality levels. C & B is by far the best value.

I love my fiesta ware! So many colors (I have them all mix and matched) and you can buy individual that way if say your saucer breaks you can buy just the saucer and not a whole set.

They're also dishwasher, oven and microwave safe. I'm pretty rough on my dishes and they hold up well (no chipping or scratching thus far)

Oneida has a lot of sales during the year.

Keep an eye out on slickdeals (slickdeals.net)--I check it every day for lots of things!

My mom has gone through two sets of Crate & Barrel dinnerware and has not been happy. They start to show knife marks after a while and chip easily.

I've been looking at Pacifica set from Williams Sonoma. I'd LOVE the Le Creuset set, but it's a little pricey and I feel bad registering for that much.

We registered for dining set and silverware through BB&B.

The silverware we chose is Oneida ("Perry") and the dining set is the Fitz and Floyd "Everyday White" collection. We're plain and simple people but we change our mind a lot so white dishes are perfect because they will go with anything and everything!

Oneida is a good brand of silverware, at least I can vouch for my silverware that we have been using heavily for 33 years, and it still looks fabulous. It's technically stainless steel, not "silver".

I love our dishes from Crate and Barrel! We got the Staccato ones and they hold up well for every day use, but look fancy enough that we really don't need china.

We also got our drinking glasses and wine glasses from there and we love the quality, and I felt the pricing was very reasonable. I also love everything else that we got off of our registry from Crate and Barrel. Plus, they were the easiest store to work with for our registry. I loved that they just send you a discount card after your wedding so whenever I went in, they just had to scan it to pull up my registry and apply the completion discount. They were also amazing with an exchange I made. I can't say our registry experience with Macy's or BBB was as seamless.

I'm a Fiestaware fan. I love the variety of colors and it's easily replaceable if you break something. I've had my dishes for 20 years and have never broken any. The mix and match of all the colors makes the table look very festive. I used to have Reed & Barton silverware which was really nice. For my wedding, I registered for Mikasa Clover silverware,. It's a 65 piece set (service for 12) and it's lovely. Very nice weight and holds up well in the dishwasher. It was just under $100.

Fiestaware is available at BB&B but lots of other stores as well - Macy's, Kohl's and on Amazon, which is where I registered.

We did the white everyday essential set from Crate and Barrel. Price point was great (they had open stock and "sets of 8" for each piece, so that helped with pricing), but I love that it is a basic white plate. We registered for napkins and napkin holders to "dress it up" when we wantto have a more formal setting but not breakout my grandmothers' china sets. My mom has had Correlle since she got married for her everyday set and I really can only remember a few pieces breaking in the time I lived home (been married 33 years), she actually just upgraded to a new correlle set with her new kitchen remodel because she loves it so much. They'll probably be my next set of plates personally too. For flatware we registered for an Oneida set, the Voss satin to be exact. We love the sturdiness of each piece, but hate that it's like bottom heavy...those forks fly off the plate if you're carrying the plate with a fork hanging over the edge. We'll probably upgrade to a nicer set at some point to go with my grandmothers' china sets but for now we love it!
