I absolutely love looking back at pictures of my dress. However, the one downside is that I don't have many pictures of my dress without a belt. I absolutely love looking back at pictures of my dress. However, the one downside is that I don't have many pictures of my dress without a belt. I specifically told the consultant that I wasn't interested in wearing a belt with my wedding dress (I've never been one to look great with a belt around my waist because of my shape). When I fell in love with this dress, the consultant immediately tried to add accessories to make me feel like a bride and the belt was something she kept insisting on. I don't think I want to get a belt because I don't want it to take away from the dress (especially the buttons down the back) but I'd be interested in some opinions! How do all you ladies feel about wearing a belt with your wedding dress? Did anyone feel pressured into getting a belt? Which do you think looks nicer with my dress?

Honestly I think it's gorgeous without the belt! When I went dress shopping they definitely tried putting a belt on every dress but I felt like it took away from the already beautiful dresses.

I'd vote belt, but you have to like it. My dress actually has one built on it (it's got pearls and a little sparkle), which honestly I thought helped break up my all over lace dress.

I tooootally get you on not wanting to cover up the buttons! But often times a seamstress can attach the belt across your dress (instead of tying it) so that it ends at the buttons and doesn't cover them.

    Hope that helps!

I feel the same about my Dress, I feel as if it doesn't need one. From the photos, it looks great with a belt! and they would take in the excess fabric on the back as if its apart of the dress.. if you fell in love with your dress without it I'm sure you won't regret not having a belt Smiley smile

I have an unpopular opinion, but I vote no belt. The top is so gorgeous and the belt really takes away from that.

It's about what you like, you have to be comfortable with what you are wearing on your big day. If the belt bothers you then don't get it.

No belt for the ceremony - simpler is always best. Belt for reception because it looks more trendy. So do get it and wear the dress two ways. Also, get a funky diamond hair pin for the reception and leave off the veil. You will be just gorgeous!

Belt Smiley smile If you're worried about it covering the buttons, talk to the seamstress, they can sew the belt on along the waste and line it up next to the sides of the buttons

@will&tiara that is actually an absolutely brilliant idea!!! You have no idea how much I appreciate you saying that because as simple as it is it totally makes sense since I'm so indecisive! Thank you.

Also, to all you ladies, thank you. You have all been incredibly sweet and helpful. I cannot express how happy I am to have found this forum. It's wonderful to be able to plan for my day with your help.

The dress is beautiful either way & you look great! I personally love the belt. If your on the fence, try a few different belt styles when you go back. Give yourself a few options. It's ok to be indecisive, it's your wedding dress. You're stunning in that dress. Do whatever gives you the wow feeling

Wow - gorgeous dress and it is super flattering on you. I am actually a fan of no belt but the belt does add a little bling to it which is nice.
