Belt for Wedding Dress Questions...??????????????

Amie, on May 21, 2015 at 12:26 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

So I am thinking about which beaded belt I want for my dress and can't seem to decide...

My dress, Blush by Haley Page Style 1450 (see image 1 of the model - this shows the best front view of the dress)

The belt that I like (image 2) has the option of 13.5" , 18" or 34" for the rhinestone applique and then attached to ribbon for a total of 3 yards for the belt.

My waist when measured last in December was 30"

My question is should I

a) get the belt at 18", tie the sash in a bow in the back - how comfortable is that bow when sitting down?

b) get the belt in 34" and have my seamstress attached the belt to the dress utilizing the additional applique length as needed

......so confused...

Pretty!! its up to you i guess. i think that the belt with a ribbon in the back is more romantic while it sewn on would be more glamorous

ETA: i say ribbon, also i love the dress. Haley paige dresses are so pretty

Option A. Get the ribbon in the back

I personally prefer a belt with a bow, but I totally agree with surfergirl in that it really depends on the feel you're going for because they offer different looks.

Depends a lot on what you really want. I went for the extra long belt, because I wanted it sewn into the dress. I personally am not a fan of the ribbon look because then it doesn't look as much a part of the dress to me. I also have a detailed back, and a bow on top of that would've been horrid.

I personally think I'd sew it in because I wouldn't want a bow sitting on the back of that beautifully smooth dress.

Here's a pic of the back of mine, but you can see why a bow wouldn't work. You can also sort of see the satin ribbon dangling as the seamstress tried to hide it for the photos.

If going with a bow..Is it comfortable when sitting down (although, let's be honest how much sitting do you do at a wedding as the bride?) ???

Regardless, I would have it sewn to your dress to make sure it doesn't move around during the day. They can leave the ends there and tie it in a bow or attach it in. The back of your dress as an amazing line. Do you want a bow to be apart of that line?

Personally, I'm not doing the bow because I have a corset back and I can never tie bows that look amazing.

Here is what i was thinking so i would think you would want the extra length anyway since this one goes around the back.

i dont think the bow would be too uncomfortable, but i havent done it before

Here is the back of the dress... disregard the beaded bolero, I did not get that because my skin is soo sensitive

With that dress I would sew it in... I'm doing the bow but it works with my lacy dress.

I don't think you'll be sitting down long enough for it to bother you, but I also don't really see how it would be uncomfortable anyway. Surfergirl's pic was exactly what I was picturing also! Definitely romantic.

Even though option A would be fine- I had one and it was fine (seamstress attached it to my dress), i don't think it will go with the back of your dress. I would get a longer length so it goes all the way around

Ask the seller if they can add length to the sash and have it sewn on. Is the sash from ebay?

The sash that I bought has the long ribbon in the back and it looks amazing! My dress is the lace kind with the buttons down the back. The hanging ribbon just adds to the beauty of the dress!

I had my belt attached because there are buttons on the back of my dress that I want everyone to be able to see. I love it attached, just my opinion

    Go with option A.

I don't find the belt to be uncomfortable that way and actually the belt you have chosen was one of my top contenders!

However I ended up purchasing a belt from seller Startrim on etsy, they may be worth looking into.

I love your belt I almost got it as well. If I get it I will not do the ribbon bow and I think with your elegant dress I would not get the bow either. Either way you will look so great!
