Has anyone ever planned and hired themselves as their own wedding planner? How did you manage it?

I planned my own! But I’m pretty laid back and kept it pretty simple so I didn’t have crazy amounts going on. I also love planning so I would’ve been disappointed not to plan my own haha

Yep!! I love planning and am organized and detail oriented for the most part. I’m also ok to be “direct” with vendors as needed. I take tons of notes when I have an idea or learn something, either on my phone or my computer (whatever is in my hand at the time) and use excel for the budget and draft guest list. I go over everything several times a week bc I’m obsessed with my wedding lol.

Not actually hiring yourself as on payroll but as in being objective as to what's needed and not because I want everything I see but i know I have a budget.

I am planning my own wedding. Personally, I find it quite easy so far. But I am also a super organized person who loves planning. And I’m kind of a control freak, so I couldn’t imagine turning over the reins to anyone else lol

I planned my own wedding. It is extremely common to plan your ohwn wedding. In order to stick with your budget you need to keep track of the things you buy. Otherwise you could very easily go over budget. We created an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of our expenses.

If theres a way to get paid for all this self planning count me in! I’d like to get a couple dollars back in my pocket lol.

But OP, I am planning the wedding myself. Consists of excel spreadsheets, research, a wedding binder and a lot of work searching online. I think a majority of us on here have planned it ourselves.

We’ve planned our own! It’s actually been really fun and we find our own stuff rather than waiting on someone else to find stuff for us!

I love all the positive feedback and I am so excited in all the planning, sometimes it's overwhelming but I will get through it all. Everyone's feedback gives me more motivation.

I’m planing my own wedding. It’s not really that challenging to research/contact vendors to figure out what you like, and I’ve been enjoying it!

I've planned my own wedding, but I'm a Project Manager... That being said, budgeting and scheduling is usually my thing at work, so the last thing I really wanted to do was come home and do it for myself. Now, just 5 months out, I'm glad I did it! You definitely can to! Just do your research, stay organized, and don't be afraid to ask for help (especially from FS as it's their wedding too!).

I'm planning my own. I bought this organizer, but I stopped using it in November lol. I ended up going with a venue that's all inclusive (except for food and drinks), so I'm focusing on everything else.

I have a spreadsheet that I got from Excel and tailored it to my needs (Budget summary, breakdown, vendor payment schedules). The spreadsheet keeps track of estimates, paid so far, actual amount at the end, pending amounts and if we are over/under budget.

For keeping tracks for guests, I used the guest feature here on WeddingWire. I downloaded it and also tailored it to my needs. I've included pictures of everything in case it helps (I can send you the speadsheets if you think it would be careful)
