Ok so for my alchol using WW friends, what are you using? Kegs or cans? Also, if you are buying cans, how are you buying it? 2 30 packs a week or what? I am trying to figure out where to store all this beer and if it will stay fresh until May. Does anyone know where to get beer at a wholesale price?...

Can't help too much on this one since we are brewing our own beer and serving, but I asked FH and he says that a keg is usually better. He says a 15.5 gallon (half barrel) keg has 140 servings. I would compare what the keg costs per serving vs the bottles.

    Hi Alissa,

I own a bartending company in SC. We never recommend kegs due to the extreme inconsistencies in pouring. Unless your venue has a built-in keg box you are going to have a tough time getting the equipment to work right. It never fails, everytime we have a bride with a keg the pressure level isn't right and we have issues getting the keg to pour. When that happens you go from getting 150 cups a keg to 100. Plus, you have no use for leftover keg beer and it's not really cost effective unless you are serving craft beers.

We use bottles because they are classier, but if you have koozies that will help cover the ugliness of cans. We will also pour a beer into a plastic cup if there is a concern about broken glass. Really you just need to make sure you have plenty of trashcans around the venue, it will encourage people to throw their beer away.

BEER!! We are probably going to do a couple of kegs, but have you tried Costco for beer? It would be worth the membership fee for how much you can save!

We are having colors light, miller lite, and Budlight. FH's favorite beer is Budlight and will only drink it out of the bottle so we are specifically getting bottles just for him. For the other 2 we were just going to stock up on the packs of cans but my dad is insisting on us getting kegs so we will see about that. We already bought the vodka and Bacardi which will be for our signature drinks. We will also have wine coolers (Seagrams, Smirnoff, Mikes) and then sutterhome wine bottles (moscato, Chardonnay, white zin fandel) Costco and walmarts around me don't sell liquor in their stores along with adding cvs, rite aid, Walgreens, grocery stores to that list

We had a keg. But we also hada lot of beer drinkers! It worked out well for us. Between the little short rehearsal & the wedding,, we killed two kegs at our 120ish-person wedding.

My daughters wedding was at a hotel. So, we purchased bottle local Microbrews from them.

I did send in my own wine, since I am in the wine business. Since the hotel is one of my accounts, they waived their normal $15 per bottle corkage fee.

We heard that you can't transport a keg within 24 hours of when your going to be using it or you'd lose 1/3 of it to foam. So keep that in mind too - depends how long it can be stored at the venue and if it will stay cool.

Our venue and caterer both told us not to do a keg for this reason. We're doing bottles. I'm not buying it until 2 months before earliest.

Neither! We used bottles! We had canned beer as back up (Bush Light.. my BM bought it and I refused to put it out unless it was absolutely necessary... it's still in my garage, unopened lol)

We purchased a few boxes from Costco.. they have a decent variety of beers, so I think we purchased Red Hook, Blue Moon and Pyramid Ales..

So i have figured everything out. I am going to buy about 15, 30 packs.. We will have a young crowd and a lot of drinkers but I figure that some people will BYOB and we will also have a margarita machine and our signature drink so that should be plenty. I did a facebook poll on our facebook event and asked what beer everyone drank so i am just buying off of that list and votes.

    7 miller=210 beers

    4 michelob=120 beers

    2 bud lite=60 beers

    2 coors=60 beers

And these are the koozie designs ill be putting on my koozies. FH is an avid Hunter so his will be the hunt is over with a camo koozie and mine will be the have and to hold. I love them!! Everyone uses koozies right?? Smiley smile I just love personlized stuff!
