Been planning my wedding for a year.. And just found out I'm pregnant!

caitlin , on January 2, 2016 at 9:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Ok so I've been planning my wedding for year. And I just found out I'm pregnant. I will be five months pregnant by her wedding day. And I'm wondering should we push the wedding back till after the baby is born? I really don't want to wait. But I already bought my dress that I know have to return for a maternity dress. I'm not exactly thrilled about my wedding photos with me with a big maternity belly. Thoughts? It's not like I'm ashamed of being pregnant at my wedding, our friends and family know we have been engaged for some time, I'm just wondering what to do? It seems like such a hassle to change the date (all the vendors have been paid) and I don't really want to wait. Idk any dress suggestions to help hide the belly maybe? HELP!

If this is your first pregnancy, you may not be showing much. Can you move it up? Unless your dress is super fitted all the way down, you may be able to make it work as is. I didn't really show with DS until I was about 6-6.5 months, and it seems like it was all at once.

Congratulations, but you're right that does change things! Haha. The good news is that at five months you won't be THAT large yet, I would stick with the plan if everything is paid! I bet you can find a great new dress. Something like this still looks gorgeous!

You defiantly won't be showing that much, especially if it's your first. I'm really small and I didn't really start showing until later. Congrats by the way!

Congrats date twin! My friend is about halfway through her first pregnancy and she is still super tiny, so the others may be right about you not showing much. I recently went off my birth control and if we get pregnant before the wedding, I'd still proceed as everything is already booked.

This is my exact predicament. Became pregnant about 4 months into planning our wedding, and I'll be 7 months pregnant by our wedding day in two weeks! We had deposits down everywhere and didn't want to lose that money. I had already picked up my dress, so my dress shop didn't let me return it. Instead I put it up for sale online everywhere and thankfully someone bought it (with a loss on my end sadly). I ended up purchasing a custom made dress from an Etsy vendor that is empire waist with a corset back, so it gave me room for my belly. (Since you'll be 5 months, you might be able to get away from making minor modifications to your current dress.) Nothing much else had to change - everyone is excited and understanding (including our Catholic priest, thank God!)

Double congratulations to you and your FH!

Thank you so much for your support my bride buddies! I made a mistake! I'll actually be 6 months by the time my wedding comes! We booked our venue with a gorgeous courtyard (hoping for nice weather) so I'm hesitant to move it up a month or so! And everybody in my family has an opinion and it's stressing me out more. So I present my predicament to you my fellow brides. For your true unbiased opinions! ?? Unfortunately my dress is a tight bodice and I have an 11 year old! I'm popping a little already! I don't think it would be possible to alter this dress!

Maybe add in a corset back if it does not have one already. Also right now it's mostly bloating not really showing.

Congrats!!! I would say go for a different dress, likely less hassle than changing your date. Although it stinks you may not be able to alter your current dress (but I would still double check and make sure) you'll hopefully be able to find a beautiful dress that will fit your baby belly! Congrats again!
