Beach Wedding Bridesmaids, rompers???

Kelsie, on November 2, 2017 at 12:16 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 36

Hello!

I am having a destination wedding in September 2018 on the beach in Turks and Caicos. Originally I did not want a wedding party, because its a casual wedding and I was trying to save the hassle. However it meant the world to my fiance to have his guys there so we compromised.

I chose rompers for my bridesmaid attire. They are beautiful and classy, but beachy and comfortable. I also did not want my ladies to spend lots of money on a dress to wear on a hot beach and one they would never wear again.

Has anyone else ever had their bridesmaids wear rompers for their wedding attire?? I cannot find inspiration online, and I know this is not traditional attire.

I'm all for non-traditional... so I think the groomsman should be in those man rompers also!

Just kidding, LOL but as far as cost there are SO many affordable beachy styled casual but cute dresses that could be the same price as rompers, but if your going for fun & original, my only suggestion would be to make sure your bridesmaids feel comfortable in rompers. My body type does NOT *always* agree with rompers, however about 90% of my friends body's look so cute in every romper. Maybe shoot them all a text checking if they like how they look in them before deciding on them!

eta: because I realized my e-pic photos were technically a romper-dress type thing lol

Omg no. Rompers are flattering on almost no-one.

As someone who is 5'11" and a size 4/6, I implore you, no. If you are drinking all night and you have to strip to piss, this is a hard pass. Now, mix sand in your cracks? HELL NO!

I've heard horror stories about BMs in jumpsuits which i think are a similar shape/vibe...i'd be a bit concerned that they can be super unflattering on practically every body and impossible to go pee in...

Why do brides do this to their nearest and dearest?

I would be so uncomfortable in a romper, plus you would have to strip naked to use the bathroom.

I’m 5’2 size 12, I fucking hate rompers. I look absolutely ridiculous in them. I’m not about to fight my outfit just to pee.

My one friend D wears them all the time and looks amazing. My friend A, and I can’t stand them lol

I think this is more of a know your bridesmaids type of situation. If I were to choose rompers for my BM, then they would have no problem with it because we wear rompers during the summer and they look good on or body type. It's whatever is most comfortable for your BM!

@celia at least the ones for two year olds are actually functional, with the snaps all along the leg area. Grown up rompers are a thousand times worse I think!

I am not touching the romper thing because, why would you do that? I just wanted to point out that September is peak hurricane season and as we saw this year this DW is probably not the best place. Make sure you get insurance and make sure your guests get travel insurance.

Maxi dresses are also beachy and classy and do not come with risk of camel toe, wedgies and urinary difficulties.

Please rethink this. As a 5'7" athletically-built woman, nopenopenopenopenope.

I'm with @HB I'm short and stacked. I'd have all the girls try them on before ordering! My MOH wanted to do a floral backless jumpsuit to "stand out" amongst the bridesmaid and she is between a 00 and 0 and still couldn't find a jumpsuit she liked.

If anything give them the option of a jumpsuit amongst other dress or skirt and blouse options if you want them to wear it again. I've only ever found one romper and one jumpsuit I really ever liked. They both required about $50-$100 in alterations. A romper doesn't mean it'll be more cost effective for them.

I haven't seen anyone do this for a wedding - but I love the idea. I've also never seen anyone outside of a halloween costume or club scene wearing a romper that gave camel toe lol. I'm 5'7 and have never had a problem. I love rompers. Not sure where most of the other people on this thread are shopping...

Rompers can be tricky, but if they try them on before purchasing them I'm sure they can get a great fit and alter them to flatter their individual figures. Coordinate with them.

Definitely look into insurance and watch out for hurricanes!
