Hello!

I am having a destination wedding in September 2018 on the beach in Turks and Caicos. Originally I did not want a wedding party, because its a casual wedding and I was trying to save the hassle. However it meant the world to my fiance to have his guys there so we compromised.

I chose rompers for my bridesmaid attire. They are beautiful and classy, but beachy and comfortable. I also did not want my ladies to spend lots of money on a dress to wear on a hot beach and one they would never wear again.

Has anyone else ever had their bridesmaids wear rompers for their wedding attire?? I cannot find inspiration online, and I know this is not traditional attire.

^ Gonna agree with Macy lol... the only reason I usually don't is because my boobs hang low & it creates and odd situation - however, I have friends with perky & fake large boobs who they look perfect on & then friends with slender bodies and no boobs who look amazing and really cute in them - just ask what they think of them on their bodies lol

    - also, sorry for the excessive use of the B word

@Macy-I have a long torso and big boobs. I have to have dresses altered or tailored because otherwise the waist doesn't sit properly. Where do you think it would sit on a romper?

I would hate this. It doesn't matter what fabric or style, every single romper makes me feel like shit. Have you discussed with your girls to make sure it's ok with them before you proceed?

Otherwise, I would check out department stores and other big chains to find something.

Apparently everyone here thinks they'll be wearing rompers to your wedding...

I'm not a romper wearer but I'll echo what someone else said, you know your bridesmaids best. Definitely ask if they'll be comfortable wearing that as opposed to "mandating" them to wear one.

ETA: Definitely get that wedding insurance!

@Criz-People on this site are from all over and can offer perspectives on how the bridal party will feel. I've worn some pretty hideous things for weddings, but I would have drawn the line at a onesie.

@OGJessie - sounds like you'd have to have alterations regardless!

@OP - I agree with the others. Check with your friends. I doubt it will be met with as much resistance as this thread. I'd one million percent rather wear a cute beachy romper than any of the bridesmaid's dresses I've been saddled with over the years.

OGJessie - Don't get me wrong, I'd feel the same if I was forced to wear one but there ARE groups of women out there who absolutely love rompers. They're not my cup of tea but if she knows her friends (given they've all verbally agreed), I don't see the issue. She said she wanted it to be a casual affair, so it's her wedding to let them wear rompers, jumpsuits, dresses, bathing suits (I hope not), etc. Just my two cents.

Again, my biggest issue would be if she hadn't cleared the idea with them /all/.

@Macy-Yeah, but I don't have to strip out of a dress to piss at a wedding half in the bag. Whereas I do in a onesie. Fuck no. If my clothes come off, they stay off. Fuck that shit.

Macy, I’ve tried on rompers at so many stores it’s ridiculous. I’m not comfortable in them. If I asked my BMs to do this one would say “hell yes!”, and the others would ask if they can wear something else.

If your BMs love it, great, however it’s perfectly acceptable that not everyone likes them.

Again, I’m not going to strip or fight my outfit just so I can pee.

@Jessie - Meh. It's just as easy to pull down a romper to pee as it is to pull down pants especially if its a flowy beachy romper. Bridesmaids dresses require lifting the dress and trying not to let it touch the toilet, the floor, or worse get in the toilet.

I've seen every single one of my bridesmaids wear a romper. I've seen most of of my friends (maybe not all). So again, check with your friends.

LOL @Macy-I have a hard enough time with pants when I'm drunk. Yeah, no. Rompers are a hard no, if you want to wear them 24/7, you go ahead. The rest of us will be comfy cosy and able to piss while drunk.

I wear rompers to bed, I can't imagine it being comfortable as a bridesmaids outfit. I think you can do better than that for your nearest & dearest. What about a maxi dress or a pretty short dress?

I LOVE ROMPERS! I think I own about three of them. I also understand that they aren't flattering on everyone. You should definitely take your bridesmaids shopping and run the idea past them to see how they feel about it. If your bridesmaids are as opinionated as the posters on WW, they'll definitely let you know if they're cool with it or not.

I also like the idea of having a mix of flowy dresses, maxis and sarongs to have as an option for the bridesmaids.
