Beach Inspired Wedding

Tiarah, on September 7, 2019 at 1:11 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 16
Hey everyone! I'm new to this wedding planning. My fiancè & I love the beach. We got engaged there and we wanted to have a beach wedding. But we are having a hard time trying to do it within our $8000 budget 😔.
So we are trying to bring the beach to the wedding. Do any of you have any ideas for that or how to go about it?
The wedding is October 2020 & we live in SoCal.
We don't have a venue yet because I'm torn about not having it on the beach LOL. Thanks!

I know Cali has some enormous prices compared to most states but could you find a public beach with a rental fee for your ceremony and have the reception someplace indoors? If you shop in your hometown they’ll often give you a citizen discount.

Https://www.smgov.net/Departments/CCS/content.aspx?id=53687097620 I found this for Santa Monica state beach. Looks like you can have it here for free, you just don’t get exclusive access to the beach and you’re limited to 150 guests.

Https://socalbeachwedding.com/la-county-beaches Oh and here is a company that specializes in state beach wedding ceremonies. They know which beaches you can reserve or not.
I tried to find you a beach house but October is still high season in California so that $1600 venue jumped to $6600. Your best bet if you want a beach ceremony is a state park and using the savings to bring the beach to your reception.

Depending on where you live, you might look into some of the private community centers with "lakes" (e.g., Sun & Sail Club in Lake Forest or the Lake Mission Viejo Association), you may need to find a resident who you know (especially in the case LMVA) because I don't think they rent to nonresidents. Both have private facilities they rent our for events (although, I believe dates are very limited and likely book quickly). There are probably other similar community venues, but I'm not as familiar. I'm not sure what they charge, but the Dana Point Ocean Institute does weddings. Good luck!

Yes some beaches you can do it but it can get tricky with the amount of people we have. I'll have to look into Santa Monica, thank you!😊

Yeah that's the tricky part lol the price skyrockets for October. It seems the only months that aren't high season are December-February.
Oh yes I've heard of them. I contacted them. Thank you so much for all the help!

I love the idea of your centerpieces being sand and shells. That's so beachy

That Annensburg Community Beach House that is listed as an option in the first link has a low season Nov-April. Are you guys set on your date yet? I know Cali doesn’t get as cold like my neck of the woods. You could even do Nov 1st. It looks like an all inclusive gorgeous option that’s well within budget but sadly only in low season.
Good luck hun! Happy planning! ❤️

So idk how you feel about destination weddings, I also don’t know where you plan on honeymooning... BUT
you can get pretty cheap flights to Hawaii from Cali and you can have a DW..
we are and then it’s straight into honeymooning!
The whole wedding including photography (2hrs), videography (1hr and they give you the wedding video and a highlights video), two fresh orchid leis, two Kuiki nut shell leis for the lei ceremony, they do a sand ceremony with sand from the beach you get married on, a minister, bottle of champagne, and a whole list of other things (I can send you a list if you’d like)... but SO SO MUCH for $2,000... our whole two weeks in Hawaii (well 15 days) including the wedding, all activities, accommodations and a rough estimate for food (when I say everything I mean everything wedding and honeymoon) is about $9,000-$9,500.. and we aren’t skimping out on anything.
