BBB Registry-how can you tell who purchased something?

Rebecca, on September 17, 2016 at 6:36 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

We got our first gift the other day! The problem is I don't know who to thank. Bed Bath & Beyond doesn't seem to show who purchased the gift?

Does anyone know how to see this?

I've tried emailing BBB but no reply. I plan to call Monday. I hate to think I'm seeing the person in the meantime & not thanking them! I would be so embarrassed. It was a big gift too (a safe!) so a prompt thank you is coming their way as soon as I can figure this out!

I received a gift by mail from BBB. On the top left of the invoice, it stated who ordered it.

If they ordered it online and had it shipped, it should show on the slip or you can call customer service and ask. If it was bought in store, they won't be able to tell you.

This happened to me too. I called the local BBB store and they told me they could look it up using the order number. Unfortunately, there was no order number on my package and no packing slip. I just knew where it shipped from. Ended up guessing and asking the friend I thought bought it. Luckily, I guessed correctly.

All of mine had a note on them. There was also a column on the bottom left with their name and address.

One of my gifts was missing a note, so I emailed BBB telling them what was purchased and they were able to look it up by order number (found the order number on the shipping sticker on the box).

I had two gifts come direct from the manufacturer rather than a BBB warehouse. I was able to track down who it was by calling their 1-800 number. I don't have the number, but the person who helped me in store when I called gave it to me. They can always figure it out, it just might be a bit of a pain in the ass. Good luck, and call when you have time to be on the phone.

It really sucks that BBB doesn't have a thank you manager like Macy's and some other sites do. I would call the store.

Thank you all! I dug through the trash & there was a receipt the darling FH missed when he opened the box. Smiley winking & I finally sent them a thank you video.

I wish BBB had thank you manager online too!

You can also do the chat function with them as well... If you log onto your registry there should be a contact us/chat with us option.

We just received a gift that had no packing slip, but I chatted with them and had an answer within about 10 min - easy!

So we just received our first wedding gifts from our registry tonight and I was stressing that there was no packing slip in the box and it shipped directly from the manufacturer so it didn't have the name of the guest who sent it to us, of course I wanted to send a "thank you" to them. After much searching...BB&B has added a way to keep track of who has sent you which gifts since this post was made, just thought I'd say that Smiley smile

If you go to your regeristy and scroll down just a little past the bar that says how many gifts you have listed and how many have been bought...there's a new bar that they just added in the last 2 weeks that says "Browse & Add Gifts" "My Items" "Ask A Friend" and "Thank You List". It shows who sent what to you Smiley smile Thank goodness!

@Rhea - It may not have been added for everyone (unless there's a different way to get to that bar). Mine says "Browse & Add Gifts" "My Items" "Ask a Friend" and "Product Guides"

So the item had to be bought in the last 2 weeks to show up?

    Rhea,

Thank you! I didn't notice that either. I guess they don't want to ruin the surprise for you but I was going crazy thinking I wouldn't know who to thank for one of our larger gifts.

We only registered at 3 places -- BB&B, Macy's, and Honeyfund. IMO, BB&B should take a look at the other two registries. They would learn a lot about how to make a generally better website but specifically about how to set up a clearer, easier to use wedding registry.

Our BBB registry had an option to see the name of the person who purchased the gift. It was on the top of the registry website. It read "Thank You List" and as long as the person gave their name at the time they bought the gift you'll be able to see it. Some of ours said anonymous, some said it was bought in store (not sure if they can have the cashier enter their name in to the thank you list), but most gifts had a name with it. Made it super easy for thank you cards!

They actually do! On their website there is place to click for thank you and it tells you who purchased gifts
