Baseball " NY Yankee" Theme Wedding Centerpiece Ideas

Magda, on April 22, 2011 at 12:12 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 25

Hello all. I am planning a Yankee/Baseball Theme Yankee wedding. I already made a sample of my centerpieces. I am not completely happy with it since I know the Baseball Rose needs to be higher.. but you'll get the picture.

Thoughts?

Too much green. They are really neat and a fun concept. I love how they look when you are looking down at them... but straight on, not so much. They would make a neat bouquet how they are.

I understand why you did the green. You need a wide vase to fit the baseballs, and with out the green, the flowers would not be wide enough or "heavy" enough to visually balance out the vase. Maybe look for a smaller vase anyways, that the baseballs Just barely fit in.

Or ditch the flowers and just do a floating candle. Can we see it that way?

OR... get some different leaves and try to fold them like this...

Well I agree I am not happy with the greenery underneath... but I needed something to fill in the gap when looking at it straight on. I will attempt to redo it with a more hanging effect so that it looks a little prettier... I don't know. I can't ditch the flowers because the Baseball Roses are expensive and quite unique. Thanks for the comment Hayley.. I will repost when I figure it out again lol :-)

OMG! I'm sorry but I'm not into baseball at all and when I saw the title of this post I thought "OMG that's so racist!" Hahaha! Boy do I feel dumb!

I really like the idea of these and think they could look awesome but I do agree with Hayley about there being to much greenery. I think it looks good with the flowers but think there should be less greenery and larger/more flowers.

Oh ya, the folded leaves would look good Smiley smile

I was tempted not to the do the vase toppers and have the stems in the vases, but then you wont see the baseballs.. I'm not sure yet. I think I would be fine with loosing the baseballs as long as I was happy overall

LMAO it hadn't occurred to me that my title could be taken in that way.. anyway, i can change it?

yeah I may try larger flowers. but I want the main flower to be the baseball rose and it is on the smaller end.

I also think if you want the baseball rose to be your main flower you need more of them or some way to show them off more... Maybe do 2 kinds of centerpieces - high and low - and just have a floral ring and the baseball rose in the middle.. so it sits on the table and people can look down on it. (like picture #2)

These are NOT your flowers, but to give you an idea of it bunched in a low display. ANd the baseball rose can be set high like the center poinsettia is.

and an example of how a low looks on a table...

I don't think you need to worry about changing it....it's just because I don't ever watch baseball lol!

Oh you already have lol! Sorry about that!

Your welcome... Post more pictures when you get them done. If you wait too many days your discussion won't bump to the front page any more, so If you post on here and it doesn't bump, start a new discussion. I can't wait to see how these turn out!

Are you using them in your bouquet too? I did rainbow roses in mine.. I only had a few, but it was fun and made a statement.

I'll be honest, not loving the flower portion at all. It's not just the greenery- though that is a big part of it. But I don't really care for the blue or white flowers either. They don't have any bend to them and look awkward. Did you use floral foam to stick them into, or what?

I love the vase, with the baseballs in them though! Maybe look at something else. Can you do a submerged baseball rose in some of them with the aquabrites, and baseballs in others? Or just floating candles.

Something that might be super cute (and cheesy) is to get some sort of green mat that looks like astroturf to set them on the center of the table, like you normally would a mirror. Not sure your budget, but I'm sure you could find something. Or something shaped like home plate.

@ Hayley very nice pics. I wasnt planning on using the Baseball roses in my bouquet or those of my bridal party just for the centerpieces.

@ Meghan. thank you for your opinion but it is all a matter of taste. I will definitely experiment with the centerpieces and I like the astroturf idea. But our whole wedding is baseball themed .. our colors are blue, white, and some gray/silver. I love the overall concept im just not happy with the greenery.

Our personalities are such that we are bold and crazy. :-)

I'll post more as I make them.

I'll be honest. I was definitely put off by through thought but I actually kind of like it!

I saw a few baseball themed weddings around here somewhere and it turned out really neat! If no one else posts them, I will when I get to a computer.

Are you going all out or just subtle baseball touches?

Magda- I LOVE the concept! But like you said, you jsut aren't happy with them yet. The baseball roses are incredible! I think you'll find an arrangement that you love, and you have plenty of time!

If you can't do the astroturf type thing- maybe look green tablecloths, or overlays on sandy colored cloth. I'm a huge baseball fan- so I'd go all out!

@ Batman - Thanks.. we are going with subtle touches for the most part. Our colors are "yankee" colors so blues and white with hints of silver. We will have a yankee stadium grooms cake and also some baseball snacks like the little big league gum and cracker jacks. But we also wanted to make sure it was still an elegant wedding and not that you walk in and all you see is the "NY Yankees". We will have a baseball bat and Jersey for our Guest Sign in.. but we willalso have a guest book for messages. My FH will be wearing a tux but with subtle pinstripes. Our save the dates have a picture of us dressed in yankee jersies and one of the actual field. Our invitations are still a work in progress... not sure how much baseball I want in it.. It's still a work in progress

Centerpieces are pretty, but they are not photographed too much. They usually are not the "star" in your album. Those flowers are TOO COOL not to incorporate into Your bouquet. Doesn't need to be in your BM and doesn't need to be a lot... but you really should consider buying 5 or 7 extra and putting them in your bouquet.

Why not just do a single baseball rose with a baseball stadium?

I'm sure you have plenty, but just a few other ideas:

    Do tickets for invitations

    Cracker Jacks/Popcorn for favors

A glove for a ring pillow

Use pennant flags for decor or the grand exit

Use a jersey of your favorite player- or get one with your last names/02 for a guest book.

    And the cake topper:

I love the idea of this, I used to swear I was getting married to Derek Jeter haha. I found a couple of cute ideas. The table numbers of the NY players, and the rest in of course NY stuff but just some ideas. And also I will add of picture of my flutes, I lady hand paint them on Etsy with anything you want.

Omgosh! My fi is a huge yankees fan. Although were not having a yankees themed wedding I wanted to surprise him (he's not big on the planning) with the seating cards by having the players names for the names of the tables. "Jeter", "Rodriguez", "Ruth", etc.

Good luck! and I can't wait to see your progress!
