Most bartenders don't bring their own stuff you have to supply all your own alcohol

If you can find a venue that will allow you to bring in your own alcohol, you can usually save money vs using a package from the venue, since you get to keep the liquor you don't use and can sometimes return unused bottles. However, most venues that allow that still require a licensed and insured bartender.

However, like Mrs. Lemmon said, if you hire an independent bartender, most likely they won't supply the alcohol. They may be able to advise you on what and how much to get, here there's a bartending service that you can pay them and they'll shop for you, but still, it's your alcohol, if that makes sense.

Well the bartender that we were looking into, they will supply their own alcohol if we need them too. We just have to tell them what kind of drinks we want and they will go from there with price range. I'm just trying see which is cheaper to buy it ourselves or let them supply it.

I think you can definitely save money by providing your own. It really isn't a big thing to worry about. Toucan return unused bottles, and keep opened ones for future parties.

If you provide your own liquor than they cannot resell it. Usually you only provide liquor if you intend to do an open bar of sorts, so I assume you're not doing a cash bar. It all depends on if they are going to cut you a deal on the cost(usually for cases of beer), if they are simply charging you a flat per person rate for drinks and not for individual bottles, etc. Ask for a detailed estimate and than figure out how much it would cost you to buy your own and go with the more cost effective choice.

You always save money by bringing your own. However regulations vary state to state. We only looked at venues that would allow us to.

I have looked into this, and in my area its definitely cheaper to provide your own!

Kegs are twice as much provided by a bartender, and bartenders cost like $25-$50 an hour.

In general it's. Lot cheaper to bring your own. I wish our venue would let us do it!

Thanks for the output. I figure out an solution to my liquor problem, I called this Daiquiri place and they told me they do gallons for 30 dollars, so I'm going to do some of those, hard liquor, and beer.

I would also consider liability; supplying your own should save you money, but you are probably going to want liquor liability for the day, even if the venue doesn't require it.
