Bar close during dinner?

I was watching Four Weddings on TLC and the brides were shocked when the bar closed during dinner. When I looked at venues this was the case at all of them. The venue we booked has the bar closing for an hour and a half during dinner and then serves either wine or champagne. After dinner it opens...

I was watching Four Weddings on TLC and the brides were shocked when the bar closed during dinner. When I looked at venues this was the case at all of them. The venue we booked has the bar closing for an hour and a half during dinner and then serves either wine or champagne. After dinner it opens again.

Is this maybe a regional thing? What is all of your experience with this?

    I feel like this has been the case for most weddings I've been to. They serve wine with dinner and then the bar reopens after dinner is complete.

    Bar is closed for dinner with mine as well, the guests will be served champagne with dinner.

    I've seen it in Michigan. In Philly, I have not. But am planning on a BYOB venue , so the bar will be open almost the whole night Smiley laugh

    Joliet il venue here, mine closes during dinner too. With wine and champagne in between

    SoonToBeMrs, umm of COURSE you can have water during dinner. It's poured at the table by servers like at a restaurant. Geez. Don't be ridiculous.

    We're getting married in NC and the bar will be closed during dinner. They offer tableside wine service during dinner.
