Balancing a Full Time Job & Planning a Big Wedding...

I_Found_Mr_Wright, on April 11, 2012 at 12:11 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

I'm not trying to make this thread a "rant" but it might turn into that Smiley smile

I am currently working as a full time early intervention play therapist and as much as I love my job, I am feeling soooo stressed out balancing work and wedding plans! I wish there was a way to just take off work for the next 4 months and totally devote myself to wedding plans! I'm not trying to sound selfish, but I just love planning so much and I feel like I can't enjoy it as much because I'm always so busy!

Anyone else in the same boat? Obviously, I can't not work for 4 months lol...just wishful thinking Smiley smile

I'm a full time student about to graduate. So though i'm only working very part time, i have plenty of school stress. i'm actually super glad my boss majorly cut my hours. Yes- it creates more stress with money which sucks hardcore, but I have more time for other things.

Yes! FH and I both work full-time, plus I am in school (online) However, we plan at least 4 hours to on work on the wedding on Saturdays and meet for lunch when his schedule permits (he's an attorney)

Shellie, congrats on graduating! I know school is super stressful too! I probably would be more stressed out if I were still in college than now that I'm working lol. I was always so high strung about schoolwork lol

That's a good idea B'Loved. My FH and I should set aside a certain time each week just to devote to planning. We kind of just do it whenever we can find a free minutes.

Wow, I can't even think about going back for my Master's right now! I definitely need a break from school LOL! What will your degree be in?

    Sorry if I'm being nosy!

Ya, i think we will wait a few years for the masters.

I'm getting a BS in movement studies with an emphasis in ballroom dance. Kind of a useless degree, which is why i'd like to get my masters later. I used to be a Dance (ballet and modern) major before i quite collage for a couple years ago because of injuries. Ballroom is a lot less stressful on old bodies. Smiley winking

Oh wow, that is so cool! I wish you could give me and FH some dance lessons before our wedding! I'm so afraid we're going to look like goofballs during our first dance. We both can't dance!

Thanks. I have fun with it. Though it has actually been making picking out a first dance song a bit of a pain- we want something with a ballroom rhythm and a lot of songs just don't have a good one. It would be so much easier to just do the ol' high school shuffle

During my first engagement, I was working full-time, going to law school, and on law review. I skipped DIYs, relied a lot on the groom and my in-laws for wedding planning, and kept things simple. (Reception was a luncheon at a local restaurant.) In the long run, your career is going to matter a lot more than one day anyway.

I am in the same boat. I never work just 40 hours - I am a music teacher so I always have rehearsals, concerts, etc. after school. My average work week is more like 60, most of the time closer to 70. So I feel your pain! I squeeze it in whenever I can. I try to get a lot done on the weekends. It's definitely stressful.

I work in a preschool room, doing lesson planning, art projects, and making sure no one gets hurt. I'm also doing school part time, and have a 3 yr old of my own. Wedding planning has added stress, but I took a step back and really cut back on certain details. That helped me with planning because then I wasn't freaking out over everything. We also sat down and discussed certain things and cut back on others. Here I am almost 2 weeks away and I wish I wouldn't have stressed over so much.

I work one full time job and one part time job. I'm starting school 10 days before our wedding, and planning has taken it's toll on me. But you have to find time to do it. There's no choice!.

I've been fortunate enough, that I've had some help. But it's still a stressful thing! and I can totally see where you're coming from.

If I can do it, so can you! Smiley smile
