Azazie Jolene Wedding Dress (long post)

null, on October 8, 2019 at 9:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 43

So dress regret is real and it sucks. I haven't decided what to do and I've already bought (and can't return) one dress, but I figured I might as well explore other options since I have time. I ordered a sample dress from Azazie for $15 (includes shipping both ways) to try on at home. This is the Azazie Jolene wedding dress.

I like it a lot, specifically in the ways that it's so different from my current dress. My sister (MOH) is coming over this weekend to help me get a shot of the back/train before I have to send it back. Honestly, my only complaint on this dress is that there isn't any sparkle on it. Not that big of a deal but I do love a glittery skirt! Also doesn't hug my waist near enough, but that would obviously be taken care of with the custom sizing.

I posted this partially because I wanted to see what you guys thought of this dress, but also to share my wedding dress experience (so far) with Azazie! It only took a week to get to me, it's a really beautiful dress (especially for the price if I end up buying it), and it was packaged very nicely in a garment bag with the return label at the bottom of the box! If you have your eye on a dress on Azazie, definitely splurge the $15 to give it a try!

That's a beautiful dress. You could always incorporate sparkle into acessories.

You look beautiful in this dress Amber!

I'm sorry that you feel the need to buy another dress, but this one is really pretty on you! As you said, the waist would be more fitted once you got your own size and had your alterations done. During your alterations, you could also ask your seamstress to add some sparkle or beading to the skirt to get the effect you want.

I think it's pretty. I agree with the above, If you'd like to hug your waist, maybe alterations could be done and/or wear a corset? Not sure how to add more sparkly, but if it really bothers you then get another dress.

Thank you! I've thought about that, I've seen a few things about adding another layer of tulle with glitter in it Smiley smile Got a lot to think about!

Thank you!! I like it a lot, just haven't made up my mind yet. Azazie does free custom sizing when you order, so I think I'll take advantage of that especially for the waist area. I've also thought about adding another layer of tulle with glitter in it, but the lack of sparkle is sort of growing on me now lol

Hey Michelle, thank you! I'll definitely take advantage of the free custom sizing by Azazie if I end up ordering this one and any further alterations needed to take in the waist. Honestly the more I look at this dress, the less I actually mind that it doesn't have sparkle Smiley smile

I'd definitely do that for the waistline, that is if the custom sizing through Azazie didn't fix the issue. Thanks for the input!

It's beautiful! Do they have a similar style in a mermaid/trumpet? You could get a visual of it hugging your waist more then! I hear you on dress regret.. been there, done that.. but I love my second choice!!

Hey Ka-Rina! I didn't even think to add the pictures of my current dress lol, this is it Smiley smile

I have a petticoat underneath in the first picture, this was when I picked it up in my size but definitely needs to be taken in at the waist. The second photo is of the back in the sample dress so it's a bit small on me.

I do think it's a very pretty dress, but just not exactly what I pictured getting. It doesn't make me feel like a princess and that's what I really wanted.

Thank you!! I really am starting to love this one. I tried on one mermaid/trumpet and while it was very flattering for my figure, I felt a little exposed lol. I prefer ballgowns, just would need to get it taken in at the waist Smiley smile

Dress regret is the worst, but I'm glad you love your second dress!! What made you finally decide to get a new dress while you were having regrets? I'm torn Smiley atonished

I don't know that I'll be a lot of help, but I just wanted to say I've been there.
I am actually getting married a week before you, and tried on your current dress LOL! It has such a beautiful back, but you need to love it, and feel the way you want!!!
I ended up buying a beautiful Maggie Sottero gown, but I didn't love it on. I purchased it online, and always felt like something was missing, I didn't have that princess feeling either. When a dress shop here in town had a killer sale, I talked myself into going, and I am so glad I did. I found a spectacular dress, and am now selling my other.

Honestly, I expressed my concerns to my FMIL, FSIL, best friend (who's a BM) and my mom and they all gave answers of "well you can alter it this way or that way" or "if you don't love it then.." or "what to you envision instead".. while at one point they all said it was a very "pretty dress" and I looked "nice in it".. Looking back, I felt like they were just being nice because who is going to be real honest in that situation. I spiraled in a panic of regret for about 4 days before I told my FH that I was going to go look.. and hopefully try my dress on at David's Bridal in the correct size again to see if I could love it again.. unfortunately they didn't have my dress any more, so I pulled 5 dresses and tried them. Then I found THE one.. sent a picture to my mom who called me crying (from loving it so much).. mind you she didn't cry the first time I picked a dress and just kept saying how it was "so me!" So, I purchased it! And ever since when I show people (bridal team and seamstress) they have LOVED it and their comments have felt more real!

That Azazie dress looks beautiful on you! You could always get your seamstress to add rhinestones to it. My dress is really blingy so we're getting my seamstress to add bling to my flower lace veil so they match.

Oh, I even posted it to WW because I needed some alterations advice and not one person said anything about it outside of providing feedback for the alterations.. I know it's silly and fairly childish, but the fact that not one person commented on how the dress looked really bummed me and provided no reassurance during a very vulnerable time!! Especially when I read posts all the time with comments filled with "boosting" people.
