August Wedding BM dresses, long or short?

Jen A, on May 5, 2013 at 10:29 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

Hi! I am having my wedding August 15 2014, and I don't know if I should go with long or short dresses. The end of summer time period is confusing me lol. Here are some dress options that I have been looking at. The dresses will be a teal/ medium blue color. Thanks for your advice! Smiley smile

I like 1 and 4.. so shorter ones (but I don't like the bow on 5)

I like 4 the best though..

Not sure where you are located, but I'm pretty sure my bridesmaids would protest if I asked them to wear long dresses in August as it is the hottest month in my area. I'm getting married September 7th and am doing short dresses ( they are also more rewearable)

I think it depends on where you're at. We're in Georgia so August is horribly hot so we're going with short dresses. We considered long dresses that were light and flowy.

    This one to be exact:

Oh yea I guess I should mention that! lol I live in Pa so the weather here could be 80's or low 60's. It is really hard to tell with our weather. Everything will be inside and air conditioned.

Where in PA? I know most of the state is very different, but here in Philadelphia area, it is almost straight 85-90s all month. It doesn't matter too much which you go with, especially with everything indoors, but I think flowy fits the summer months better. Did you ask your girls? Maybe they can help you?

I think that it depends on the type of wedding you are having. If it's very formal, than you would want to go with long. If you are having a more casual wedding than cocktail length.

I definitely think short, just bc it accents your long dress really well. But I'm LOVING the long turquoise dress!! I have a friend use some short royal blue dresses and her pics turned out phenomenal. Good luck!

Short I am in Buffalo and it can be hot in Aug.

If you do long I would suggest breathable material!

Unless you're having a really formal wedding, short. August is hot!

I'm getting married in August and we bought long chiffon dresses and I had the girls get them cut to short. I'm in MD, not far from you, and the average temp on August 31 is 86 degrees, so we're going short!

I'm having an August 2014 wedding as well and ended up going with long dresses for my BMs. Both the ceremony and reception will be indoors and airconditioned. But because we will be taking pictures outside they picked out a chiffon dress so it is lighter weight and flowing.

Short. I assume it can get just as hot in PA as in Chicago. Love all the styles you are looking at!

I would lean more towards short as it is usually pretty hot in August in PA! Just make sure the bridesmaids are all comfortable!

Thanks everyone! Tatiana I live close to Pittsburgh and our weather is a little colder here. I did ask the girls and they cant decide what style they like better so they are making me make the decision lol

It depends the venue. I love dress #1 for the short dress choice and last one (strapless blue one) for the long version choice.
