I totally understand your concern. I live in Illinois also. Do I think things will be better by August? Yes. Do I think things will be back to the way they were pre-Covid? No. To be safe, I would definitely have a back up plan(s) ready just in case- whether that be a smaller guest list, postponement, or small wedding on your date and large reception next year. We are supposed to be married this fall, so we are definitely crossing our fingers with you that things will be MUCH better by then!

Yeah originally our guest list is about 300. Our venue is pretty lenient about things , but i know definitely not 300. But just want to know that things will be little early or a lot easier then now . 🥺

I feel like it's just going to depend and it's one of those things that will just have to be taken day by day to see how the world is improving. First and foremost, take a deep breath and just remember what your special day is about. I agree with Chrysta, you should definitely have a backup plan in place (even without COVID those are good to have because things happen!).

I think it's going to be better by then. We have the vaccine out, and while people are stressing because it's a little delayed...remember that people were like that when the Covid tests first came out and now you can pretty much get them at any pharmacy. So as long as people keep being cautious, enough people get the vaccine, and we remain diligent, I think things will go back to normal.

I'm getting married on the 21st of August I understand your concern a lot! The vaccine coming out has lowered my anxiety a bit. I would have a backup plan just in case but, I think it will be okay at that time. Then again I only have a guest list of 120 and by then I'm figuring my venue will be okay with it. We'll just have to wait to see how the next few months play out.

Ours is august 7th and I have just been hopeful! Is your wedding outdoors? Or at least the reception? If not I would totally suggest looking into an outdoor alternative to calm your nerves!

No the venue we chose (which is one I LOVE) doesn’t have an outdoor option. Only indoor

I'm an August bride on the 8th we are doing an inside venue but I'm worried but its enough room for us indoors and we can go outdoors also so my nerves are calm far as us being able to spread out

When I think back to when restrictions were first taking place and they had a limit capacity my venue was able to accommodate 150 between 3 rooms to be able to have it spread out !so I mean I guess I can possibly be looking at that being the amount of ppl. But hoping we can do more closer to our original number of guests

Feeling the same way. Mine is scheduled for August 7 and I'm like OMG that's 7 months away! What is going to happen? But right now I'm continuing to plan as if everything is going to happen that day. Once we hit the 3 month mark I think that's when I need to re-evaluate if I need to reschedule.

Our date is August 22nd (technically this is our fourth date... we've already had to postpone three times, the first being literally the week covid hit back in March!). We're located in LA county, which is experiencing a horrific surge right now, and I'm starting to think that August isn't going to work for us either. So I feel you! Maybe it will be different for you since you're in a different part of the country, but ultimately I think we're just going to need to wait until around late May/early June to make a decision. That's how far out we postponed our second and third dates, and that has seemed to work as well as can be expected.

Dr. Fauci just said he thinks *theatres* can open by fall, so weddings in August are starting to look pretty good.

(Sorry, DH and I are actors, if theatres can open, I will sob big huge baby sobs of relief and joy.)

That said, if making a Plan B would let you feel better, do that.

We were hoping for an August 2021 wedding. We were originally supposed to get married in April 2020 but are now rescheduling. Not long ago, we were all but sold on August, largely because we figured it would be far enough out to be safe. That isn't our concern anymore. The bigger problem is that our venue - who, for now, we have to stick with because our deposit is non-refundable - only has two Saturdays left available for August: the 7th, which is my oldest sister/maid of honor's birthday, and the 14th, which is my fiance's sister's birthday. That sister isn't a bridesmaid, but she's a somewhat self-involved person who we can see not being entirely enthusiastic about sharing her birthday. (We don't really want to share our anniversary, either.) That all being said, they do have some Fridays available, but my future mother-in-law is convinced that no one will come to our wedding if we have it on a Friday. We've tried telling her that we've been to Friday weddings with decent turnouts, but she doesn't seem to believe us. Even worse, my fiance seems to be more inclined to take her side than to take mine.

So as of right now, we have absolutely no idea when we're getting married.

Sounds like you've got a lot to consider!! We finally landed on 8/7 (our 3rd, maybe 4th? date) and the best advice we've gotten is to make the choice that works best for you and ignore other's opinions about the dates or day of week. Birthdays happen every year - your wedding is once!! You could even make a special birthday shout out to that person or surprise them with a cake or something. And as for Fridays - they have become super popular and I promise you that won't be the reason someone doesn't attend. The bigger concern we'll all have is if people are even comfortable traveling and/or attending an event by then - that's something none of us can control right now. Good luck with your planning and deciding on a date!

My wedding date is August Too. My venue is in Pomona but follows LA County guidelines. I think once it starts to warm up we should be fine. Maybe that’s just wishful thinking on my part.
