Are you wearing your veil at your reception?

Lindsey, on November 24, 2020 at 1:27 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 26
Is there a general way people usually do it (keeping it on/taking it off) or is it really just a matter of preference? What are y’all doing?

I'm not wearing a veil, but I think it's a matter of preference!

All of the brides at weddings I've attended, took their veil off for the reception. They all did have long veils that hit the floor, so they more than likely took it off to make sure it didn't get stepped on or snagged. If you're wearing a shorter veil then I don't see why you couldn't get your money's worth and wear it the whole day!

I think I'm going to wear mine for part of the reception (first dance, cake cutting, etc), and then remove it for the rest of the reception. Totally personal preference though!

It’s really personal preference. Although, logistics definitely play into it as well - if you have a short veil, probably doesn’t make a difference. If you have a huge Cathedral length veil, wearing it for the reception may prove quite difficult. All the weddings I have been to the brides have worn the veil for the ceremony and then some of the pictures afterwards, then removed it for the reception.

I think it’s a matter of preference. I plan on wearing my veil for the ceremony/pictures, but taking it off for the reception!

I kept mine on for the ceremony and pictures right after, then took it off for the reception. It was a long floor length veil, and is also my grandmother's, so I didn't want it to get ripped or snagged on something.

I wore mine for the ceremony, photos, and most of the reception! It was just floor length so when I started dancing I took it off! Up to preference on how long you want to wear it!

I agree with PPs that it’s a matter of preference, but I imagine that getting around with anything longer than fingertip length during the reception would be difficult.

I did not wear it for the first look. I put it on right before the ceremony, wore it for the ceremony and pictures, and then took it off for the reception. It was cathedral length and would not have been practical to wear through dinner, etc. My dress shop did mention putting a bustle in if I wanted to wear it all night.

I wore one for the ceremony and pictures, and took it off for the reception.

It only went down my hair/back, so it was more of an accessory.

That said, I'm glad I wore it for pictures, we've got some really great shots with it.

Totally a matter of preference. I’m taking my veil off after the ceremony & pictures. It’s pretty long & I would hate for it to get stepped on or tangled up in something.

It's a preference. I did not wear a veil for my reception or ceremony, only photos. But if I had worn once during my ceremony, I would have probably removed it after spotlight dances. Wearing a veil all night will get annoying.

I think it's a matter of preference. My sister wore her veil up until her reception ended. I plan on wearing mine only for the ceremony and after my pictures are done. However, it's your day and you wear/do whatever makes you happy and helps you get the most out of your day!

I took mine off. It was long and a pain to have on while walking around after pictures and such.
