Are you taking your real rings with you on vacation?

Amanda, on October 26, 2016 at 7:02 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 18

My aunt brought up that when she goes on vacation, she wears a cubic zirconia ring set instead of her diamond wedding set, in case it gets lost or stolen. So when you go (or went) on your honeymoon, are you going to (or did you) take your real ring or have a "stand-in" for safety sake?

I'm probably getting a cheap lookalike for my honeymoon. Especially after my brother lost his ring during his honeymoon.

I bought a fake $20 set from Amazon that has been used for traveling. Our travels are often adventure related and I'm not a fan of wearing the real ring if we're scuba diving, etc. Also don't see a point in leaving it at a hotel safe since I've had things stolen from them before.

We went to Riviera Maya on vacation in May, and I wore my engagement ring. I will continue to wear it. I had it on while snorkeling, hiking through Mayan ruins, and everywhere we went. No issues.

I wear my engagement ring on vacation, but I never really take it off to begin with. I figure if my ring can survive my full time retail job, I think it'll be fine on vacation.

We are planning to wear our rings too. I wear it to work at a hospital and I wear it to workout, I don't see why I shouldn't wear it for our honeymoon.

I got a $35 e-ring/wedding band on overstock - let FH pick it out haha - and brought that on our beach vacation this summer. One of the tiny fake diamonds fell out but think I'll be bringing it on the honeymoon as well. More worried about losing my rings than someone stealing them. I never take my e-ring off unless I'm lifting weights but the idea of it at the beach just makes me nervous.

Probably. The only times I won't wear it is when I'm working out or sleeping because my hands swell which then makes the ring uncomfortable.

No, I have a CZ lookalike from Amazon that I use for international travel. I've had two co-workers lose their engagement rings on trips and it just makes me feel safer to leave it at home. Or just wear my wedding band. But the engagement ring, it will stay home for sure!

I have insurance on my ring so I will be bringing it with me. When I went to Central America a few months ago I didn't have insurance yet and I didn't feel it was a safe area so I didn't bring it

I am not sure whether I will actually wear mine or a silicone ring on vaca, but either way, I am bringing it with. I just had a friend have her house broken into during the time of her wedding day/honeymoon, so now I have a fear!

I plan on wearing mine.... why get them if you're not going to wear them? They're insured if anything happens...

I'd take my ring and be cautious with it.
