Are you taking song requests?

Lynnie, on February 9, 2018 at 1:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

Will you be fully in control of the playlist on your wedding day, or will you be taking song requests?

If you are taking song requests, are you asking for suggestions on the RSVP?

We're having a DJ and band. Song requests are totally acceptable at our wedding! At Greek weddings, all you have to do is walk up to the DJ or band and ask for the song you want. Very flexible, and it turns out to be so much fun.

We aren't taking requests from all our guests, but told our closest family/friends that if there's a song that they love to dance to, to let us know and we'll put it on the list for the DJ to play!

Our guests can walk up to the dj to request something, though we aren't advertising it! If someone wants to hear something specifically they can request it from him!

Like FutureMrsKC, I wouldn’t mind if people walked up to the DJ and request a song but I’m not advertising it.

I have a live band, so we did not put anything in the RSVP. We gave them our list of must play songs, and cut out a lot of their song list with my do not play list, so from here they can do their thing. If they take requests at the wedding that's up to them.

We are not taking requests, but day of the DJ will take requests within reason, we want the party to keep going and any song that might take people off the dance floor, FH asked the DJ not to play.

None of our wedding guests didn’t even approach our DJ to ask for a request. The only one who did was my nana who requested my parents first dance song at their wedding for them!

I'm not asking for requests on the RSVP. There are some wedding standards that I hate, and I wouldn't want to make anyone feel bad by not playing their requested song.

We haven't decided if we'll ask the DJ to take requests. We might, and say, as long as it's not on our do-not-play list. Otherwise, we're leaving it up to the DJ.

We asked for song requests on our RSVP, but then got told by so many people after the wedding that their song was never played. Obviously the DJ wasn't going to play them all because I wanted him to play music that would have people dancing, but I definitely don't regret asking. People said it was an awesome idea too!

We have a place on our website for requests, but didn't put it on the rsvps...there just was not enough room for it. But, come the reception, if ppl want to request songs we're not gonna stop them.

We're going to take requests on the website, but probably not on the RSVP. And the DJ will take some requests as well.

We are not allowing song requests at the reception. This was recommended by our DJ when I was discussing my concerns. He had no problem with allowing it, but suggested it because sometimes it can be hard to hear what the person is requesting. I also do not want to worry about having a do not play list. (My dad may try to request songs I really don't care for.)

We activated the song request form on WW wedding website to allow guests to submit their recommended songs. I like that WW allows me to download an excel sheet of what the guests entered and then I can go through the playlist and approve. I am going to mention on my website that we would love song requests and hope to get to all of them, but don't be sad if not all of them are played. (Something like that, but maybe with better wording. I am still working on it.

We are using a DJ and they have an app that can take song requests. We have a do not play list and so if anyone requests something that is on our do not playlist, it doesn't get played.

We are taking requests, and we included a "Song request" line on our RSVP cards, which about 50% people used it. Some songs I'm not putting on the request list though.

We also set up a "do not play list" for certain artists and songs (YMCA, cotton eyed Joe, etc)

We have a DJ and are taking song requests on our wedding web site. We will probably not be taking them at the wedding. My FHs grandfather is extremely conservative and we want more appropriate songs towards the beginning of the night then after he leaves we don’t really care.

The DJ asked for a few requests from us ahead of time. I'm letting my mom pick a few, my MOH pick a few, and FH and I will each pick a few.

At the wedding, song requests by guests are totally fine, but he won't take a crazy number of requests.
