I sent them! Most of our family and friends will be driving a ways/flying to get to the location so we wanted to get the date out quickly to people. I sent the STDs around early March (wedding is 10/16/2021)

I sent Save The Dates! We're doing a semi destination wedding where everyone will be traveling, so we wanted to give people enough notice. If Save The Dates are not in the budget or you don't want to send them, they're totally optional.

We sent them since all of my FH’s family will be flying in from across the country or other countries. For them our wedding is a destination wedding. 😅

Yes! We actually sent them twice, since we postponed a year and changed states.

We sent Save the Dates and New Date Cards after we postponed due to COVID. I think it adds a little personal touch and it's something you can have fun with. One thing I have noticed is that A LOT of people have asked questions about the wedding, including the date, even after receiving them and their question could have been answered if they looked on our website, which the URL was on that card. So I can see why others may say it is not worth the extra expense.

We're sending them because some people will have to travel. I didn't send them for my last wedding because every guest was 2 hours or less away.

We did... our venue is about 1.5 hours' drive, which isn't that far, but many people will stay the night, and we wanted them to have time to be able to think about the logistics for their stay.

We sent them to all our guests. We live in northern AZ but our wedding was in the Phoenix area (2.5 hours away).

Yes, I think it allows people enough time to prepare especially if they have to travel and arrange child care. And it doesn’t seem like it it’s being thrust upon them suddenly.

I sent them since a lot of our guests will have to travel to our wedding. Also our wedding is at the beginning of summer when people might start planning vacations so we wanted to give advance notice of the date to block it off on their calendars.

I’m going to send them because our wedding day falls on the last Saturday of spring break. I want people to have enough time to make plans, if they need to

I will be sending them, as we have family from all over - want to give enough notice so they can make plans.

We skipped them, mostly because of COVID & not being sure of the number of guests we could have. We spread the word to family & close friends via telling people instead.

This is pretty much what we're doing! Most of our guests are family due to covid limits anyway. Also because we are having a very short engagement (7 months or so), and most guests will be within an hour drive.

I should have mentioned that—we have big, talkative families so word spread pretty fast, AND most of both sides are within a 2 hour drive. Honestly, save the dates are nice & fun to receive (I always get excited!) but with COVID it’s a weird time. And it doesn’t hurt to save some money haha. We’ve also been considering sending invites on the slightly early side to make up for it (more like 10 weeks out instead of 8).

Yes! Same, big talkative families can come in handy! Our invitationist recommended skipping save the dates and sending invitations on the early side as well, she recommended 10-12 weeks for us. It is a weird time! And I figured I'd rather spend on a nicer invitation and skip the save the dates but now I'm wondering if I made a mistake. Thanks for reassuring me!

Initially I thought they were unnecessary, particularly if your wedding is in 6 months, like mine. However I am going to send them after all because I am getting married around the holidays and I want to make sure everyone has a heads-up and can make their holiday plans accordingly. Plus my fiance's family will almost all be coming from out of state. The more heads up there better!

We didn't send them because we already had our date set at our engagement party. We have a very small wedding size and most of the people at the party were the only invited.
