Are you doing an actual rehearsal before your rehearsal dinner?

Natalie, on March 24, 2021 at 1:37 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 21

Just wondering how many are actually rehearsing the ceremony itself with the wedding party! Also, where are you doing a rehearsal/run through, if so? How many are just going to wait until the day of the wedding and either practice before everyone arrives, or wing it?

    Hi Natalie!

We're doing a run through of our rehearsal with everyone involved in the wedding! We will be rehearsing at the venue which is at no extra cost to us, then we're going back to the city (23min away) for the rehearsal dinner and drinks in the hotel lobby to greet our traveling guests!

We did! We had the rehearsal at our venue, and we ran through the spacing and ceremony details. This took place the day before our wedding, and our rehearsal dinner was that evening at a different venue

I am doing a rehearsal the day before my wedding! We will be rehearsing at our venue. If our venue wasn't available the night before our wedding, I'd probably save the rehearsal for the day of (but still do a dinner the night before, so we can give everyone their gifts).

It depends on the officiant for one thing. Sometimes they are available the night before and sometimes they do a run through the morning of. The morning of rehearsal assumes you are ok with seeing each other fully dressed up before the ceremony because most hair/makeup starts hours before the officiant arrives. Any earlier in the week (don't do Thursday before a Saturday wedding) and people will completely forget what they practiced

But unless every single person has been in weddings multiple times prior, a rehearsal needs to be done at the venue. Your attendants need to know where/how to come in and walk out. You need to practice along to music walking in..it's much slower than regular walking. And so on. It is not something you can wing by the seat of your pants.

If you don't have a rehearsal for whatever reason, then skip the dinner.

We are doing a complete walk-through of the ceremony (probably multiple times), just to make sure everyone knows which doors they are supposed to lineup at, where they are walking too, the flow of events, etc. We just don’t want any confusion the night of the wedding

We did ours at the venue with the coordinator and officiant. Our party was all there.

We did a rehearsal, before our dinner, at our venue. Everyone that was a part of the ceremony attended the rehearsal.

Thank you everyone! One of my concerns was people having to take off a day's work for it (Saturday wedding, so Friday rehearsal). Did your wedding parties take the day before off, or did anyone need to have an evening rehearsal and then a late dinner? I'm probably over thinking this

We don't have access to our venue the day of our rehearsal. So we'll be rehearsing at a local park before our rehearsal lunch (not doing dinner). And then morning of the wedding we'll do a quick run through at the actual venue for logistics.

We are crunched for time on the day of the wedding, so we're doing the rehearsal before dinner! One of my bridesmaids won't be able to make it, but I was in her wedding this summer, so I think she'll be fine, haha!

We were going to, but when we moved venues and dates, it was an option to do a day prior rehearsal. I'm a little nervous about it! But since we aren't having any children in our wedding, I'm hoping my DOC will be able to instruct us all smoothly!

We are doing our rehearsal Friday evening to limit the amount of time people will need to take off. I felt it was needed just to make sure people know where to line up, when to start walking, readings and what not lol. The rehearsal and following dinner will be held at the venue Smiley smile

We are doing an actual rehearsal friday night at the church we are having the ceremony at. Should be a brief run through of walking down the aisle and timing everything out.

Skipping the rehearsal and that hour is being added to our wedding day. We don’t have a bridal party just the FGs and Ring bearer so we’re winging it pretty much

We did it later in the day after everyone got off work, well those that worked that day. I don’t remember what time it was, maybe around 6. We practiced at the venue then went to dinner after.

We are doing a rehearsal at our venue, though I don't know exactly when yet since our venue wauts until 6 weeks out to schedule it depending on availability.

Since we have our venue for the entire day (10am-midnight) we will most likely have our rehearsal the day of while I'm getting ready, which is what our venue said most couples do there... I'm a little nervous about it but I'm gonna try trusting everything with my DOC lol
