April vs June wedding?

stanthewoman2014, on July 22, 2013 at 12:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

I've always wanted an April wedding but I got engaged in June and I am not sure if April is too soon to get everything done. I am also worried about weather as I live in VA Beach and our weather is psychotic at times. Lastly, I have people coming from out of town (including a very special child coming from Cali who cant fly alone). So I played it safe and stuck with late June. Would you play it safe and stick with June or go for April?

PS- Its indoors but its in front of water. Also, I want to do all my favors as gifts to my guests if possible. An April wedding will require us to have all our money sooner (not impossible but doable).

I am in April and feel as though I have plenty of time to get things done.. If you can afford to do it and that is what you have always wanted, I say go for it.

You can do it. And April is usually cheaper.

As long as it's inside, April is fine weather-wise and totally doable from a getting-everything-done standpoint. Only you know your budget and what you can save in that time.

FWIW, I was in VA Beach the first weekend in May. I don't think it got over 55 degrees once while we were there. Definitely smart to have it indoors!

We got engaged in October and had our wedding in August, which is 10 months which would be the same as yours. Everyone had enough time to make arrangements to come to our wedding, even people flying across the country and a friend who came from Texas to Alberta, Canada.

Im getting married in April. It seems perfect, weather wise and its cheaper because its during off-peak season, whereas June is in peak season so you will pay more for almost all of your vendor-provided services. I even got my honeymoon cheaper because it was in off-peak season. Another problem with June is that it begins hurricane season, so depending on where you are along the coast, it may not be a good idea

April is cheaper, like the girls said. And I also think the weather will be really nice. I personally hate sitting in 90 degree weddings in the summertime.
