April 2020 brides - How are you holding up?

Chanieish, on March 9, 2020 at 7:02 AM Posted in Planning 0 16
Hi!

We are about a month to go until our weddings! How is everyone doing with planning? We are also in a unique situation regarding coronavirus. Has the virus affected and if your or your guests plans?
Planning-wise we are pretty much set. However in the last week we got 5 cancellations due to the coronavirus and 2 because he just lost his job. Understandable but kind of sad as well. We have about 20 people coming from overseas and I feel 18 of those will cancel (except my parents). I can’t postpone the wedding flight tickets if guests who live in the US are non cancellable as they booked it before Feb.
We also changed our honeymoon destination from Italy and Maldives to Hawaii. I spent 6 months planning and lost 5k in flights and deposits so that’s a big bummer. Hawaii is nice, but it’s no Maldives haha.
I hope you ladies are doing better!

Omg I am so ready for April lol!! The virus hasn't hit us yet, but it's still a worry. Most of our guests are US based anyway and planning on making the trip. My mom's side of the family have mostly flaked without the courtesy of an rsvp, so I'm writing most of them off and prepared for those that are coming. Also had a dress scare last week, but at least it zips now. I was terrified for awhile. Now back on my big diet and watching all my carbs while FH continues to eat what he wants. But holding up!

I know I should enjoy this planning time, but I am so ready to just be married!! We haven't been impacted by Corona, and honestly I don't really think we will. The only think I really worry about is my grandparents, but I think that's more in general because they are older. We're also doing Hawaii for our honeymoon, we have flights but haven't booked anything else yet. I don't know why but getting through this last stretch has been a struggle!!

Date Twin!!! Things are going pretty good right now. Getting a lot of RSVP's in... our deadline is Wednesday. We will meet with the venue on Thursday to hopefully get everything finalized. I don't think the virus will have any effect on us. We do not have anyone traveling a far distance. Congrats on going to Hawaii! That was my FH's choice, but he has back issues and we couldn't see spending 12 hours just in flying to get there! I hope you have a great time!

We are getting married 04/09 and cruising on 04/12. I am so afraid our honeymoon isn't going to happen. I don't need this added stress right before the wedding.

Sorry to hear about all the issues and changes Smiley heart I'm getting married April 11. I know of two virus cases in my state, but to be honest I'm not really feeling stressed or worried. No one is coming from overseas, but we do have a few out of state guests. However we havent had anyone specifically decline because of the virus. Although we are still waiting for 90+ RSVPs to come back....and the deadline is this coming saturday, so yeah. That's my main stressor right now is waiting for RSVPs to be able to order our donuts and get seating charts/escort cards figured out! Our honeymoon hasnt been affected as its to South Carolina, so that's a blessing.

April 18th here! 40 days out! I have some little things to do still, but all the big stuff is done or in the process of getting done!

As far as coronavirus, we are flying to the Bahamas April 20th. For now we are sticking to that plan, but are keeping an eye on it!

We are getting married April 25th.
I've just recently hit panic mode.
Corona isn't such a worry for as as most everyone is local (within an hour or so), except my brother and his girlfriend coming from San Francisco (we are in Central Illinois). We are flying to Jamaica on 4/26, so I've been closely monitoring reports from over there. I work in a medical office, and screen patients all day for coronavirus symptoms. My main panic is just being generally overwhelmed, and trying to keep myself organized and focused on what we have left to do. My dress alterations have started, and I don't have to go back until April 15th, we are paying off our honeymoon tomorrow, and my bouquets are ALMOST done. I think the biggest stress right now is the guest list. Only about a 3rd of our guests have RSVP'd, and most of who haven't are his family. The deadline is 5 days away and 95% of his family has not gotten online to do their RSVP. They plan on coming, they just SUCK at RSVPing. I'm going to have to beat some of them with a stick to get an accurate count.

Date twin!!! But i am a little stressed out cause i bought a hair clip from amazon, not knowing it was from china, and it looks like i'm not getting it. Now i have to go look for one. I'm very picky about it and i'm freaking out lol. Today i went to my second fiting and omg, i fell in LOVE with my dress all over again. Now that it's hemed, its just so beautiful. I thought it was going to look so short, well i'm very impressed.

My fh and I don't live together. I told him its his job to find an apartment. Well he said he was going to look for some in February. I wanted to slap him lol. Thanks be to God we found one 2 weeks ago. It took us 2 weeks to find one. The official move in date isn't until the end of the month but we don't mind since we don't need to move in until next month. I work for a school district so all my spring break will be moving, picking up my dress, and hair trials lol.

But I am like emma and just want to be married already. Sadly the virus has finally come near where i live. We are going to start notifying the guest that if they don't feel comfortable coming, we completely understand. The head count isnt due until the 13th of april. So if anyone cancels, It won't affect us. But my fh is worried since his dad has a lot of health issues and is worried that a guest might give it to him. I'm just trying to be a support future wife.

April 25- I'm excited but kind of just ready for it to be over with now! We have friends and family in Italy who probably were not going to make it anyway but now definitely can't come. There are some cases of corona virus near us but I'm hoping it will not really affect our plans and most of our other guests are local. Our honeymoon is to the Bahamas, so far I haven't heard of any problems there but keeping my fingers crossed! I don't think we bought the trip insurance.

That's a great plan for the grandparents. We're doing something similar with most of ours because they won't be able to travel due to health reasons anyway.

We're going to Oahu. One of my best friends is getting married so we decided to go ahead and have our Honeymoon coincide with that. I'm excited because I know we wouldn't have done Hawaii if it weren't for that.

April 25 in northern California- starting to worry about attendance at
this point. We aren't getting a lot of declines, but I was hoping for
more RSVPs by this point. We've given folks until March 25 to RSVP, so I
suppose I should just be patient. I already called the bridal shop
about my dress (should still come in on time- I shopped late), and we're
confirming contingencies with our caterer. Trying to source hand
sanitizer or alcohol based wipes for the wedding to assuage fears. This
is a bummer and I think the media is causing concern out-of-proportion
with the problem, but I understand those who genuinely can't take a risk
on their health or the health of those close to them.
