Apparently "We Have Reserved 2 Seats for You" means bring 2 dates to our wedding *VENT*

Michy, on March 8, 2015 at 8:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

So FH and I sent out our invites this week! It was very exciting. A few people close to us have already received theirs, and I even got 1 RSVP back already. So exciting! Smiley smile

Anyway. To avoid people bringing random dates and the whole confusion on if they get a plus one or not, I figured I would make it very clear and use the "We have reserved ___ seats for you" on their RSVP card. We gave pretty much everyone a plus one, so it usually said 2 seats.

Already, THREE different people have come up to me and said, "So does this mean I can bring 2 people? So me and 2 others?" WHAT. On what planet does it mean that?! grrrrrr

So I hope I don't get RSVP cards back with 3 names on them... I don't wanna have to call all these people and set them straight! Anyway just wanted to vent... Has anyone else had people assume they can bring 2 dates? LOL

LOL that happened to me. It was a 1 seat deal and she's said I can't see how to RSVP for another person. I was like that seat was reserved for you but if you want to give it up sure! She isn't even in a relationship!

Have a glass of wine and calmly explain that of the two seats one is for them and one other person.

Why, when it comes to RSVPing, do wedding guests turn into complete idiots!?! So not looking forward to this when I send ours out at the end of next month!

Have they ever heard of Google?

But seriously, that's a stretch for people to assume 2 seats reserved means 2 seats for them to fill in ADDITION to the named invitees.

There's definitely something about weddings that brings out the dozy side of some guests.

What is wrong with people?? What are they going to do with 2 dates? Tell them yes, but if they bring 2 dates they will have to stand and not eat since only 2 seats are reserved.

I had someone assume they can bring 5 extra people. Those people aren't even related to them.

Ugh. I don't understand how guests are able to drop 100 IQ points when they RSVP.

I'm not looking forward to getting my replies back because of all these posts I see about ppl not knowing how to reply lol. We're using the same thing as well as where they write their name in it doesn't say "Name" it has the "M_____" to write Mr 'Name' etc. I wonder what ppl are going to write there ugh

Almost date twin, I'm working on invitations now, but that's ridiculous. People must really start applying common sense to these RSVPs. WE have "___ seats are reserved in your honor" and I will also write the names on the "M_______________" line to avoid confusion there, and since I don't have inner envelopes. Try to keep your cool, but the crazy is bound to come out right about now.

I can't imagine why anyone would misunderstand that. I think it's probably just a select few that misunderstood and the rest of your guests will get it.

I would have so much trouble being nice about things like this. If you have reserved 2 seats and you bring 2 people then where would you sit?? Also when would you ever need 2 dates? And why would someone else want to pay for you to bring 2 dates? Stupid questions get stupid answers from me, lol.
