Anyone wearing/worn platform/wedge flip flops for a beach wedding?

Aimee, on November 27, 2012 at 11:59 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

I am thinking about wearing platform/wedge flip flops for my beach wedding ceremony. I already bought heels at David's Bridal (before we decided on a destination wedding) and they are just the right height 4", so that I won't need my dress hemmed. I figured I could wear the platform/wedge flip flops for the ceremony and heels for the reception. Most people suggest going barefoot on the beach, but then I would need to hem my dress and return the shoes. Any opinions/experience?

I personally am wearing barefoot sandals but my dress in short =).....I have had the same question though and this is an answer from another beach bride...

"I am a foot shorter than my husband so I was really concerned about going barefoot on the beach for our beach wedding. I wore wedge flip flops for height for the ceremony and then changed into my regular heels for the reception, which was on a patio. I did not hurt myself and to be honest, they were more comfortable than my heels anyway lol. Only issue I had was I kept stepping on the bottom front of my dress - one arm was through my dad's when he walked me down, the other holding my bouquet. So I had to keep kicking the front of my dress out so I wouldn't step on it lol but no one noticed and that would have happened with or without the wedges. ".....HTH

When I went for alterations the seamstress showed me that if your dress is not at the right length you will step on the front of it.

That being said I lived in Clearwater, Fl for 15 years and I always had a hard time walking on the beach in wedged flip flops. I always wore flat flip flops if I was going to the beach. I will tell you that I am kinda clutsy but if you are in a big dress trying to walk on sand its not as easy as you would think in a clunky wedged heal. Especially if you are drinking. Lol

    Hope this helps. Smiley smile

My brother and SIL got married on the beach. We all had wedge sandals to wear (including her, she had her dresse hemmed too) but once we did the rehearsal and realized just how hard it is to walk in sand- we all went barefoot. The ceremony was so short nobody realized her dress dragged and for all the pictures she just put her shoes on
