Anyone struggling or have had issues losing weight before your big day?

Michelle , on May 24, 2012 at 1:20 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

I have been really trying to eat smart, continue with my weigth watchers, and excersize. i was struck with shingles that has had me out from work for three weeks now, and has prevented me from doing much of anything too physical. I am getting a bit nervous as my wedding is in Sept this year, is in Florida (as I live in NJ.) I also am expecting my gown to be coming in literally any day and I have yet to buy undergarments, nor shoes. But here is the biggy... I have purchased my Vera Wang two sizes too small. I obviously won't fit in! I'm not sure what to do. Panic is setting in! I realistically need to loose about 20lbs to fit, but truly I neeeed to loose about thirty-forty to get back to my normal weight. Anyone else have any issues?

Hi date twin! I also bought my dress 2 sizes smaller back in February. I'm down 35 pounds since January and I'm just about able to fit into my dress already. I'm hoping to lose another 30 by the wedding. As long as I've stuck to my calorie counting, I've been losing. I recommend joining myfitnesspal.com-that's where I've been logging all my food and excercise and it helps keep me on track.

Hi Ladies - I'm hoping to have my wedding dress taken in quite a bit too with a 20 lb loss by August. (down 5 so far!) Add me on myfitnesspal - the username there is jaimejean478!

Just having some accountability friends on there is so helpful... receiving encouraging words even from strangers... and the actual counting is so eye opening!!

2 lbs a week for ten weeks from today is August 2nd. That is twenty pounds - so there is time, keep on track with WW. You can do it. Do not panic. If you fall off the wagon - get back on the next day.

I have lost 14 lbs on ww since I started a month ago yesterday.

I've struggled with my weight virtually my whole life. I've joined Weight Watchers on and off whenever it was offered through the At Work program at my job. So far it's been 6 weeks, and I've lost 15lbs! I'm so excited. I feel good, and people are starting to see it as well. My dress was ordered in the largest size it came in, and while it fit, it could have fit better. So I can't wait to try it on again soon. Keep up the good work ladies.

I bought my dress when I was a lot smaller. It's now 2 sizes too small eventhough I could fit it when I bought it Smiley sad now 85 days and nothing seems to work. I worked out every day for 6 weeks and only lost 1 pound. ick!

My body tends to build muscle quicker than I lose fat so I end up building muscle under the fat. not fun.

Hello month twin(s)! Yup, me too. I bought the dress one size larger than I thought I would need but because of a thyroid problem I gained 20 pounds. Finally have they thyroid under control but the pounds are soooo slow coming off. I only eat about 1200 calories a day and that has helped but I am such a procrastinator when it comes to exercising!

I have these wonderful online fitness videos by Gilad (last time I did these I lost 15 pounds) which I told myself I would use when I travel, and I have looked at them but that's all I've done. HELP ME!!!

I need some workout buddies to get my fat arse in gear. Only 16 weeks to the wedding which means 10 weeks to lose the weight. Who's game!

And Michelle - I certainly hope you are feeling better! You are the second person I know on WW who got the shingles.

My wedding is in November and my dr thinks I could possibly have shingles too. Very painful and I haven't been able to exercise. My friend has set me up with a lot of great low cal recipes and I found more on myrecipes.com I will look into joining fitness pal. I have a sparkpeople acct and that is a great site too. I also use pepperplate.com to keep my recipes and it will also give me a shopping list. Just remember that any sort of exercise is better than none at all. You can do it.

Shingles is usually brought on by stress (go figure) or a compromised immune system. If you had the chicken pox as a child or were exposed to it but didn't break out, the virus is lurking in your body just waiting to pounce. I am trying to convince FH that he should get a shingles vaccination - usually you do that once you hit 50 though our pharmacy states 60.

Lots of water and even doing low impact stuff will help. If you have a pool or public pool try finding workouts or classes for water workouts. It might be easier on you than regular workouts. I hope you are doing better.

I would say focus on getting ur shingles gone and ar you can get fighting fit again!

Buy some apple cider vinegar, soak it in a clothe and lay it on your sores for 30mins morning and night. Also add some apple cider vinegar into some water (1 tspn one cup)it accelarates the healing process and also makes the site less neuropathic in the future.

What a bummer! I'm a weight loss consultant, and even I struggled with maintaining my weight before the wedding. It was so stressful! Being prescribed steroids on top of being sick and stressed already? I'm SO sorry! But don't worry. You've got time before the wedding. My best advice is to:

    1. Drink AT LEAST 72 ounces of water per day (I like to add Mio for variety).

    2. NEVER go more than 3 hours without eating SOMETHING (I keep veggie sticks on hand, just to keep the metabolism going without adding too many calories)

    3. Never add salt to your food, and make sure to eat at least 1200 calories a day. (Eating less can cause your body to hold onto the calories you eat, actually making you GAIN weight)

    4. A 'healthy plate' should look like this: 1/2 plate should be non-starchy veggies or salad, with the other 1/2 divided between your protein source (eggs, cheese, meat) and your starches (rice, potatoes, corn, pasta).

    5. Be active for an hour each day.

    Good luck!

I was worried about this happening so I had my zipper changed to a corset on my dress, but I am still trying to, and struggling with, losing weight. I just cannot stick to a diet to save my life so I am working out like crazy and not seeing results and just becoming very discouraged, hoping a major thing of motivation sets in once I get a bit closer to September.

FH and I cut out red meat, eat a salad every single day with fat free dressing, and cut out fried foods.

He lost ten pounds, he was overweight. I lost weight, and I"m not overweight.

Crystal Bleu also has great ideas!

Hello ladies! Im a June2013 bride. My fiancee and I have started the South Beach Diet (having done it before, we KNOW it works!). I bought my dress already and it fits perfectly. Due to buying it early, I have to maintain if not loose 5 pounds. Counting calories is great, watch the sodium milagrams, the surgard and the carbs. If your anything like me, you eat bread/chips/candy items like that, you gain it right away. cut that out completely or just cut your portions in half. I'm hypoglycemic (which is strange becuase diabetes runs in the family) which makes it hard to keep everything level. Try surgar free candy and chocolates and organic chocolate cookies. Its very hard, it wont happen over night. I had my soon to be sdtep mom take a picture of my in my dress and take a picture of the dress alone and sent it to my phone so when I have a week moment,, i look at the pictures and do my best to choose the better option. I'm also a huge nutrition label reader.
