I don't have enough single people coming. And my FH has a hard enough time kissing me in front of his mother let along trying to find a garter. She frowns upon PDAs. I'm slowing showing him how wacked out she is..lol

We skipped both with no regrets. We had more time for dancing and socializing.

We're doing a small backyard wedding so throwing a bouquet to 4 people doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Lots of my couples don't do either. Personally, I think the garter thing is cheesy.

Skipping them both. Very happy FH was okay when I suggested this.

We aren't doing the garter or bouquet toss. There won't be many single people at our wedding. We're keeping the garter & giving the bouquet to my Mom for a keepsake. Smiley smile

I'm tossing a candy bouquet to all of the ladies.

As for the garter toss, I'd rather not do it. FH would probably accidentally throw the wrong one anyway, then I'd have to fight someone to get it back.

I'm a sucker for silly traditions so I'd like to do them. I'll have to wait and see how many single guests are coming though. I think it would be fun if there's a lot but definitely awkward when its only a few single people.

We were kind of back and forth on this. And then a friend recently got married and she said she felt like whenever she had a moment to sit and eat she was being pulled in all different directions..."its time to cut the cake" "its time to do the carter toss" "Its time to give the centerpieces away"

For this reason...we decided not to do it. Lets going on....means more time to spend with my new husband enjoying the moment!

We're doing the bouquet only. My friends want to do it as well.

Probably not either, I may ask my friends during the bachelorette if they'd want to see the bouquet tossed. I don't want to make anyone feel awkward and there will only be about eight single ladies there.

I think I'm going to do what KitKat said. I don't like the garter/bouquet toss normally.

We are not doing either of them.

It's uncomfortable for us, and it's probably uncomfortable for the guests -- except maybe drunk "Uncle Bob"** who dives for the garter at each wedding.

Female couple that had two bouquets and two garters, and still didn't throw any of them. Seriously, why does your mom think you have to follow every tradition, even the ones that are not meaningful or even negative for you?

It makes me feel uncomfortable also, we won't be doing it. My single girlfriends are already thanking me.

@MrsGC...that's actually a really great point it will give us more time for each other if we take that away so we won't be constantly pulled in so many directions.

@2dbride...I have NO idea why she's like that but she was like that with my dress too. She wanted me to get a traditional A-line dress and that just didn't fit my personality. So I ended up getting what I wanted but she was and is still not happy about that. Honestly she is just going to have to get over it all! I learned my lesson from everyone on here DON'T SHARE. So she will just have to find out the day of that there will be no garter or bouquet toss!
