Anyone else worried about their smile on their wedding day?

Sh, on March 25, 2013 at 8:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

I don't have a perfect smile, my teeth have always been slightly crooked. And I have always smiled with my mouth closed, no big grins for me. Growing up my parents could never afford braces and now all my money is going to paying off the wedding expenses. I am worried about my wedding day and my pictures. I feel like I'm going to be extra self conscious that day and therefore not get the pictures I have always dreamed of.

Is anyone dealing with the same thing? I feel like I'm the only one Smiley sad

I know how you are feeling.my teeth arent in the best of shape so usually when i take pictures my smile is this kinda flat mouth closed type. i dont know if its because i dont have enough space in my mouth or what but one of teeth in the front is actually turned inwards.

Same here. However, I feel even worse because I did have braces. However, my retainer hurt so bad that I wore it for 3 months and had to stop. Now I have 3 teeth that have moved. Two only became a little crooked, but one on the top moved UP, so it's noticeable and terrible looking.

I was worried about my teeth not being white enough, but I dealt with that. Honestly, I have plenty of pictures where you can tell I was tired of smiling, but where I'm genuinely smiling/laughing, you can feel that in the shot. I think that's more important than having a slightly crooked smile (which I do, in the video you can see that I'm almost only talking out of one side of my mouth.)

Yep, my teeth are crooked and not as white as I want them to be... The way I see it, the photos will look fine no matter what because I'll be smiling with real joy. That's the best kind of smile, whether you smile with your mouth open or closed. Don't worry about it and just enjoy the day Smiley smile That's what I plan to do...

Oh yea! I have a slight overbite, so depending on how I smile and the angle of the picture you can really tell. I know how to smile so it doesn't show but sometimes I get caught up in the moment and forget. So I'm praying that doesn't happen...

I agree with Ashley--looking genuinely happy will outweigh slightly imperfect teeth. Besides, it gives you more character anyway.

I have a large gap in the front. When I was a kid, I hated it and wanted braces or something to close it. Now I am glad I didn't. I'll just get some crest white strips and use them before the wedding.

That crease between my eyes on the other hand... I think I need botox! I don't think it's noticeable until I get my pictures taken--it's really started to show up in photos and makes me look slightly angry!

My parents insisted on gift of veneers... it was a pain in the butt... got finished last week! I have expensive teeth and I can blame most of it on that loser than didn't tie his shoe before a 5k road race, that got me into a freak accident, about 8 years ago!

I am lucky enough to have straight teeth, but like anyone they get dingy over time. I am heading to the dentist for a deep cleaning. I don't know if you can whiten with sensitive teeth without making it worse and plan on asking him for the most effective tool. Crest Whitestrips rocked on my teeth years ago, but it hurt to eat and drink anything after!

@Future Mrs. Noble that is awesome!A gift that keeps giving.

I was in the process of getting braces before FH proposed. I have awful teeth and thought it would be hard for me to come across as professional in my career. I got them put on a month ago and my dentist says they will be on for a year and a half and that she will take them off and reapply them for my wedding. So Ill have the luxury of having almost straight teeth on my wedding day. They have turned an ugly yellowish color thanks to coffee and the fact you can't use whitening toothpaste ill have to ask about her whitening them for my special day.

Yes, I am worried about my smile. It is crooked - always goes up more on one side than the other. I do regular whitening. I had a small chip in one of my front teeth, so I had bonding done a month or two ago to fix it, and I thought I was good to go. Then, the other day, my MOH mentioned that I should practice smiling so that my gums don't show. What?! In pictures, you can tell when I am genuinely happy because of my big smile. But I'll be darned if I'm going to try to control my smile to not show my gums - it will look fake and forced.

I want to tell you, SMILE! and mean it on your wedding day. I have a friend that must be self conscious about her teeth (they look fine to me), and had a closed smile for almost all of her wedding photos. Frankly, she doesn't look happy in them, and sometimes even looks annoyed. You don't want that. Keep that in mind for yours!

I definitely don't have perfect teeth (this is after over 3 years of braces). I had a SEVERE overbite, and still have a little one. They couldn't do anything unless I had plastic surgery to make my chin bigger, because my bottom teeth are actually really far back. And I plan to smile my big, gummy smile the entire day Smiley smile

Terribly worried about my smile. I have ok teeth, but my two lower front teeth are slightly discolored. They have been for years. I think as long as I smile with just my top teeth showing, I won't mind. But I'm afraid of the candid shots of me laughing or something.
